    Source for quality apple wood?

I really like the wood chunks I have gotten from smokinlicious.com. They are rather uniformly cut and there is zero bark on the wood. Unfortunately, they do not sell apple. I have found a few internet sources for apple wood chunks, but the best I can tell they are not nearly as "clean" as the...

    flower pot bottoms

Simple question...maybe. I have a Brinkman pan and the standard Weber pan. I plan to get a 14 inch clay pot bottom this week and try it out for 2 cooks I have planned in the next 2 weeks. Should I put the clay pot in the Weber pan or in the Brinkman pan?? I was thinking the Brinkman would be...

Dry ribs (with a dry rub but no sauce)

I'm still relatively new to smoking, but I have done spares 4 times now. Every time I have rubbed before cooking and then taken them off the smoker when they were done...that's it and that's all. No foiling, no sauce, no spraying. Every time they have been absolutely outstanding if I do say...

    Pics of Piedmont Pan mod?

I have searched all the forums and have found several good threads on the Piedmont mod, but all of the pics are gone from the threads. Guess they are too old. Does anyone have good pics of the Piedmont pan mod?? Thanks.

    Sugar Maple??

Did my first 4 or 5 smokes with hickory then branched out to maple, oak, and cherry. Cooked 2 butts with maple and hickory last week...about half and half. They were very good. Had a nice sweet flavor.

    Being Lazy

I always put my racks in the dishwasher as the last step. Step 1 for rack cleaning: Hose things down outside Step 2: Scrub the racks with a dish sponge Step 3: Place in dishwasher on high temp pots & pans cycle Works great for me.

    Trim Spare Ribs, or Not?

I usually trim mine to St Louis style beforehand, but I was wondering about cooking the spares whole and then making the St Louis cut. Seems to me that you could get a good even cook of a large chunk of meat that way and then still have the more user friendly St Louis cut hit the plate of...

    Maple smoke wood?

My order that originally started this thread has arrived. Ordered the 3 wood assortment from smokinlicious.com with sugar maple, oak, and cherry. Everything went very well. Got a shipment confirmation email about 36 hours after I placed the order and it arrived in just a few days (delayed a...

    Rancher Temps

I have only done a handful of cooks so far with my WSM. All of them with Kingsford until yesterday. After hearing all the praises about Rancher on this board, I went out and got about 15 bags of it for $2.99 a bag. With the Rancher it seems like my temps were higher than I was used to. I was...

    Maple smoke wood?

Looking to order some smoke wood off the internet. After some research, have decided to go with www.smokinlicious.com. They offer cherry, ash, maple, and oak. I planned on getting the 3 wood box with some cherry, oak, and probably maple. There is no real info on maple or ash on the Smoke Wood...

    Rancher in Huntsville, AL!!!

Finally found Rancher charcoal in Huntsville at the Home Depot on South Parkway. Have been there 10 times in recent months with no luck. Well, it's there now and only $2.99 a bag!!! I picked up 15 bags for less than $50 with tax! I made sure to talk with a manager at the service desk and let...

Best Place to Buy Smoke Wood Chunks

I live in Huntsville, AL. The only wood chunks I can find in local stores are hickory and mesquite. I've done all my smokes so far with hickory. I'm looking to branch out into other woods (pun intended). I don't really know of any local places where I might find wood, so I was investigating...

    Smoke Wood in Nashville?

I will be in Nashville over the weekend. Is there a good barbecue store anywhere in town that has smoke wood? Looking for something other than the standard hickory or mesquite. Thanks for any info.

    Temperature Differentials

I did my first couple of cooks with my WSM with only one thermometer measuring my temps about 3 inches inside the dome. I was using the info I had gotten off this site stating that the top grate temp would probably be about 15 degrees below the dome temp. Everything worked out great with the...

    Thermometer through Gure Eyelet

I just installed my BBQ Guru eyelets yesterday...was very easy, just as they said. I was wondering about using a 7 3/4 inch Taylor candy thermometer through one of the holes to get a temp just below the upper cooking grate. I have been using one of these thermometers to mearure my temps about...

    Best Dual Probe Thermometer

I am sure it has been discussed many times before, but looking for some up to date answers. What is the best all around dual probe thermometer to use with the WSM? By all around, I mean combo of ease of use, accuracy, price, etc. I've seen mentioned thermometers by Polder, Nu Temp, and...
