Thermocouple Works on RD3 but not on main board

Well hmph. I don't have much of an ability to fix these solder points nor replace the caps. I bought my board online and would most likely ruin it if I tried to solder it. It if was completely not working maybe I would attempt it but as it did work with the RD3 I am hesitant to do any solder...

Thermocouple Works on RD3 but not on main board

I think the 10n does have a bubble.. Is that a problem but I do think the light was causing a shadow for the other one. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dx625dx5x6o6l6c/IMG_20180729_090220.jpg?dl=0 I guess I will Google how to test a 10n capacitor? I am wondering what might have caused this.

Thermocouple Works on RD3 but not on main board

Thanks Ralph! I tested all the continuities of the switch including all the way to the first component of the TC and had no bad connections. I then began to follow the instructions here: https://github.com/CapnBry/HeaterMeter/wiki/Thermocouple-Amplifier-Testing I found: 1to1 good with no...

Thermocouple Works on RD3 but not on main board

Yes it has a switch on it. I checked all the wires and solder points of the switch this morning and they all looked good. I have used it many times before with the switched flipped to "local" so I know the switch works and that it has worked in the past. Thanks Ralph! For jumping on so quick!

Thermocouple Works on RD3 but not on main board

So yeah the title says the problem. But I mainly run the RD3 and have no problems with it. Last night I had to run it without the RD3 and so I used a micro damper and the on board probe. About a half an hour into my smoke the thermocouple started jumping all over the place. At first I thought it...

    INTRODUCING: the "Roto Damper"

I think I'm having a similar issue as the most recent. I've had my RD3 for a while now and done more than a dozen cooks with it: Here is a video of the problem: https://youtu.be/kHkGqa8LVeo Also links to my settings and most recent burn: https://ibb.co/eMVTun https://ibb.co/hLkuZn So despite...

PID ideas for the smoking jacket

Last winter I built a what I like to call a smoking jacket for my brinkmann. Two layers of water heater insulation with a wire frame interior for structure and a dryer vent on top for smoke. My smoker is pretty air tight and runs great with the RD3 setup in the summer season. I have learned a...

    Compatible Wifi Dongle

I was looking for a bit more range with my heatermeter and wondering if this is compatible? ANEWISH Wifi Adapter 600Mbps USB Wifi Adapter 802.11ac Wireless Adapter Dual Band 5.8GHz/2.4GHz Also I would really like to get on the 5ghz channel at the house based on the way I have my network...

    Jittery Probe

I had four total probes laying around the house so tonight I plugged them all in to all of the ports and took notes I had the RDTC plugged into about 35 feet of ethernet cable. I suppose I should redo the test with a different ethernet cable as I have a brand new 50 footer that I have been...

    Jittery Probe

Thanks for the help! I am totally capable of washing with alcohol and a brush. Should I be doing that with the RD3 Aux board or the heatermeter itself?? Also I'm a big novice here and although I do have a multimeter I would need a bit of guidance to check the resistors and capacitors. Any...

    Jittery Probe

I have had some trouble with my second probe during cooks. If you look at the image below I did this cook specifically to illustrate the problem with the probes. The probes were stuck in the meat very close together and you can see the blue one jumps all around initially before settling down...

Thanks for your help so far with this project. One more question: How many amps should my fuse be?

    Sous Vide Setup

Okay that is my new drawing... Ignore the color coding on the resistor in the image. I think I have the led correct... yeah no blue smoke! For the LED to be in parallel with the input I think I could just wire the annode to the #3 lead on the SSR and wire the cathode to the #4 lead on the SSR...

    Sous Vide Setup

Just want to make sure I have this correct. I updated the earlier post with what I think is correct? Do i have the right pin numbers off the ethernet for the fan? I bought the following LED to use. Will that work in the spot I have it? Does everything else look right? Should I wire the...

    Airflow in my ECB

So yeah I dumped the air burner and now its basically the dog-bowl set up.. I still have the RD3 reduction to the 1/2" but once it gets through to the other side it was all open. A pretty good cook today. Air temp was a 50s and I was shooting for 225 and the fan ran a whole lot less. Pretty big...

    Airflow in my ECB

Thanks all for the feedback! I think I will first try without any air burner and just blow air in and see how that works.

    Airflow in my ECB

Sure thing here it is: RD3 goes into 1/2" copper pie all the way to the center... then 90degree and reduction to 3/8" flexible copper tubing and you can see how I made a circular tube with some splits. You can see all the holes I drilled in the flexible copper tubing.

    Email Temp Script for Heatermeter

I wanted to give something back to community that has given me so much and I haven't seen anything like this anywhere in great depth so here it is. I wrote a script that would email me the temperature on a recurring basis. Here is what the email looks like when I receive it: Here is the...
