    Probes go on and off

Ok, so the plot thickens...... I flashed back to the v6 AVR firmware with the same issue and when i flached back to the 10/8 v10 firmware, the issue went away. The 10/8 was what i was running to begin with. Any ideas??????

    Probes go on and off

On a whim I flashed the AVR firmware back to the v8 version and still the same result. This setup has not done this before, I wonder what happened???????

    Probes go on and off

I have 732 probes with 22k resistors and all has been fine. I haven't used my HM in a while so I recently upgraded it to v10 and decided to cook. I haven't had this issue before with these probes and HM but now the probes go back and forth between off and the temp, probably about 75% off the...

    The Development Log

Looks really tight in there. Have you considered using an RJ45 and putting the probe jacks at the other end with the servo/blower? Course may reduce accuracy some. Just a thought.

    Interesting new product

Absolutely, I remember those days turning a linksys int a real VPN endpoint and saving hundreds. I really hope this product succeeds, if so there will be clones and much more powerful ones.

    Interesting new product

I wasn't suggesting replacing the current HM design, just thought it was cool that Arduino was addressing what drove this community to mate a micro controller to a linux SoC and make their own.

    LinkMeter v9 Release

I just tried to upgrade from v8 to v9 and got the same as Ralph, "The uploaded image file does not contain a supported format. Make sure that you choose the generic image format for your platform. " I know ralph pulled the SD card and re-imaged it to fix but is there any other troubleshooting I...

Slow Maverick probes – impact on control?

So you're at 22k even with the 72 probes? I wonder if the the default should be changed from 10k to 22k since the 732 probes do so much better with the 22k.

Slow Maverick probes – impact on control?

It's not the value they use, it's the value you use for your ADC.

Slow Maverick probes – impact on control?

The stair step would most likely be not using appropriate resistor values matched with your probe and leads to decreased resolution. Is this a 72/73 or 732 probe?

Slow Maverick probes – impact on control?

In addition, since HM is an open system, you can use whatever probes you may want. All you would need to do is use whatever appropriate connectors on the HM(there is even a header to connect a set of jacks via a ribbon cable), use the appropriate value resistor, and change the probe values in...

Slow Maverick probes – impact on control?

No, I think I read it properly, your supposition that "Surely that input lag would have an effect on control." is what I was addressing and my opinion is that I don't think there would be a significant impact on temperature control due to the mass of the system relative to the amount of heat...

    Problem with my HM

Sounds to me like the HM daughter board is locking up. I would think the most likely culprit would be unclean power. Either a low voltage or noise from the PS.

Slow Maverick probes – impact on control?

I'm with Bryan, I don't see the benefit of such a high sampling interval. temperature of the probe isn't really important, it's temperature of the system including all the mass of the smoker, meat, water pan, and whatever else is in there. I think that the amount of maximum heat possible to be...

Do you have another power supply you can try? What is the mA rating on the one you have?

Isn't the one above for the 4 line? I was just curious if it was room for additional electronics.
