    Bourbon Day 6/14/25

That is insane. I don't even have the words for that.

    Bourbon Day 6/14/25

Holy crap! That is terrible. There are states in the US with upwards of 20% + tax on liquor. Here in Florida the Maker's Cask Strength and the Michter's small batches run in the mid $40s. About $45 for each. I got a Michter's Toasted Barrel Strength Limited Release for $100 last weekend at a...

    Bourbon Day 6/14/25

The rabbit hole is deep, wide, and glorious. Lol.

    Bourbon Day 6/14/25

If you like the wheaters, your next try should be 1792 small batch. It's not a wheater but very similar flavor profile and it's around $30 and buyable anywhere. You'll love it. On Edit: in fact the Kirkland Small Batch bourbon is made by Barton 1792. You should pick that up if you can get it...

    Bourbon Day 6/14/25

Man that sucks. Of course here in America suddenly we're seeing a ton of EH Taylor, Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, Blanton's.... I got two bottles of Eagle Rare and an EH Taylor at my local Walmart for $33 per on the ER and $40ish on the EHT. And, what we're hearing it's because of Canada turning...

    Bourbon Day 6/14/25

Yep, you can just look up the mash bill. According to the Googles... Larceny Small Batch Bourbon uses a wheated mash bill, meaning it replaces the more common rye with wheat in the recipe. The specific proportions are 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley. This "wheated" profile is known...

    Bourbon Day 6/14/25

Larceny is a very good wheated bourbon and available everywhere. Can't go wrong with that at all. And, yes the wheated bourbons will be sweet. That's why they are coveted by people just getting into the bourbon journey. Bardstown, Penelope, Green River, and Wilderness Trail all make great...

    Bourbon Day 6/14/25

Like you saw Weller at Costco, or their Kirkland brand? If they have Weller, you should buy it. Great elite level bourbon that is also super approachable. It's damn near impossible to find in Florida since only ABC super stores have the exclusive contract for it in the state.

    Bourbon Day 6/14/25

Typical bourbon is at least 50% corn, rye is the second most grain, and malted barley is 3rd. A wheated bourbon substitutes rye as the second grain. Weller is the most well known of the wheated bourbons. Maker's Mark is the other. Much smoother and sweeter than most other bourbons.

    Bourbon Day 6/14/25

A couple of other posters and I accidentally hijacked the Stars and Stripes kettle thread because I use it and my Stealth kettle to hold some of my bourbon collection. Seems it would be more appropriate here. Lol. And, like someone already said, everyday is bourbon day at my house And...

    Stars & Stripes Kettle

Brewzle is a well known bourbon hunter on YouTube. 3 weeks ago he was in Marietta at a place called Bullocks. They have an Eagle Rare store pick that is $59, but at that time they had a bunch. Personally I would get as many as I could afford, if I lived there. Lol

    Stars & Stripes Kettle

I am definitely a wheater guy and the Holladay bottles are straight up bangers. I drink the Soft Red Wheat. In fact just got a backup bottle yesterday for Father's Day (among some others) so I can enjoy the first bottle more now. Lol I'm jealous you have a single barrel soft red wheat. None of...

    Stars & Stripes Kettle

I'm a Buffalo Trace guy still as I'm still new to this whole bourbon thing. But, for me it's Weller Special Reserve. If I lived in a state where I could actually just go to the liquor store and get it, that would be my everyday pour Other than that I would go with Buffalo Trace ($30) Eagle...

    Stars & Stripes Kettle

Thanks. Couple more barrel heads I have. They just have to be Weber-less. Lol Bonus top shelf photo. Lol

    Stars & Stripes Kettle

I did similar... mine is in my office as a table/decor. I am using used bourbon barrel heads in both this Stars and Stripes and my Stealth Kettles. I have them as the "gateway" to the little cove in the back of my office that I will use as my Lego building station. lol.

    Star Spangled Kettle

Yeah, I just found a guy on marketplace that gets them and does his own engraving on them.

    Star Spangled Kettle

Got a couple of used bourbon barrel heads to use as table tops in the Stealth and Stars and Stripes.

    Star Spangled Kettle

Got mine put together last night. I'm using it as decoration/table in my office, same as my Stealth Kettle. They are now the "gateway" into the little cove in the back of my home office that is my Lego building station. I did some research and it turns out old wine or bourbon barrel tops...

Does anyone have any info on this?!?!? 22" Stealth Kettle

Well, using mine for some office "decor." I work from home and spend a lot of time in my office. It's nice to be able to look over at some of my best friends. Lol

Weber Summit - temp is running away

From what I remember, according to the user manual for the WSK, you should run the gas assist for 5 minutes if the coals are on the lower grate. I think you are running the gas too long. I open bottom and top vent all the way, run gas starter for 5 minutes only, place in the diffuser, then shut...
