So I saw this at Costco today

Towards the original post, Traeger has been making portables for years, they’ve never been well reviewed or recommended. ASmoke and the GMG Trek are likely far better choices. As far as the path the thread has traveled, hopper fires are a possibility in many pellet grills, but a pretty rare...

Do I sell out??? Community poll please......

Except it has a 10 year bumper to bumper warranty. So, I think both Weber and customers are expecting them to be at least 10-15 year grills.

Do I sell out??? Community poll please......

I think you need to definitely try the new Genesis and decide for yourself. I had a Silver A for 18+ years and loved it. However, I have a new S-345 that I love more. The new grill is not made as solidly as the old, but seems solid enough. It probably won’t last as long for sure. However, I like...

My Used But New to me Gen 1 EX4

My experience with 22 and 34 inch Traegers was that they weren’t that much different, but that’s back when pellet grills struggled to ever get over 450. The 34 definitely used more, especially when it was cold.

My Used But New to me Gen 1 EX4

Well hopefully nothing surprising in your findings. In theory should be the same product with same results, just a difference in cooking space. You might see the EX-4 use less pellets in some situations, but I’m guessing the difference would be pretty negligible. Anxious to see your feedback...

    What is your limit?

I smoked a brisket on the MAK last week, overnight low close to zero, high next day of like 12 and it was off the grill and wrapped in the oven before we probably hit 5. Usually, I’ll cook in anything above single digits without thinking a ton about it unless it’s super windy. However, when it...

Should I add a gas grill to my fleet?

I have charcoal, pellets, and gas. I like my Genesis for convenience, but I prefer food off the pellets or charcoal. There’s no comparison flavor wise IMO. However, I do a lot of tag team pellet/gas for reverse seared steaks. The Genesis is also great for putting a little sear after sous vide...

    Weber's Pellet Grill Future

As far as the SmokeFire needing an overhaul? Why? Unless a lot has changed in the year since I gave up on it (and I've been keeping an eye on it), almost all of the SmokeFire problems are Weber's inexperience with firmware/software. There were no hardware issues that I couldn't deal with...

    Weber's Pellet Grill Future

A lot of owners of the Chinese constructed ones would disagree. There have been lots of people complaining in other places about all the issues since they shipped manufacturing overseas. I had an American made one and wasn’t overly fond of it. It was gorgeous to look at, but had limited cooking...

One big grill vs. two small

Related to what @LMichaels said a couple replies in, I have a new Genesis S-345 and it’s kind of a gas hog. Last summer on vacation, I cooked 5 quick meals on my Traveler and still had propane left in the 1/lb can. I‘m not sure I could complete 2 of those meals on my Genesis for that, definitely...

    New Genesis 2022

Where did I miss that? There’s multiple threads going on these new grills and I must have missed something. The 2021 smart grill was still manual temp control and the new model still has manual knobs in these pictures. The smarts so far have been just in temp monitoring and cooking guidance from...

    EX6 or RT700 (OR 1250)

I’ve been nuts for years 🤪 There’s way too many to choose from and I think you made a great choice. If you decide to try to grill on it at some point too, pick up a GrillGrate searing station it really helps ‘regular’ pellet grills with grilling. For an easy to use smoker, I’ve had many of the...

    EX6 or RT700 (OR 1250)

Are you using drip pans on greasy low and slow cooks? Problems getting to high temps can be wind. If winds were greater than about 10 mph were blowing at the back of the grill, I had this problem numerous times. I turned the grill 90 degrees and hit temps within minutes. Massive temp drops and...

    EX6 or RT700 (OR 1250)

@Jon Tofte by 5G do you mean 5G cellular or 5GHz WiFi? Either way it will likely never work with that. The controller on the grill probably has a 2.4GHz WiFi card like most other pellet grills. If so, they‘d have to make a new controller and you’d probably have to pay to get it and that’s if...

    EX6 or RT700 (OR 1250)

They remove any less than stellar reviews from their site and harass people that post negative things elsewhere. It doesn’t mean they have a bad product by any means, just means you’ll never find anything negative. The first version of the bullseye was a mess, yet you never saw a negative review...

    EX6 or RT700 (OR 1250)

Having had two SmokeFires and 11 pellet grills, I’ll say nothing produces the same end results as the SmokeFire. I’ve never had a Recteq, but I know by the design it will be lighter on smoke profile than some others. However, quality for $, it looks hard to beat. I’ve never considered them for...

Weber Kettle and Summit charcoal-- looking for a temp controller... or how about Tip Top Temp?

I have a lot of Thermoworks products and love them, but I’ll keep choosing Fireboard for ATC and WiFi temp monitoring.

So this is the new Genesis

It does not look like a smart grill given the price, presence of a dome thermometer, and no visible Weber Connect display. Why are they calling it a tech grill? I’m also guessing Weber‘s not going to be happy it’s on display and that this is on Lowe’s site...

Grilling in windy conditions safety questions.

If you’re confident in the forecast, you could smoke it for several hours, then move it to the oven, trying to use only enough fuel that you could open the vents up and burn it up before the winds kick up after moving the brisket inside. Check out Slap Yo Mamma (Harry Soo) that does this often...

Yo Yo Yoder!! Merrry Christmas 🎄

When I returned my SmokeFire, Yoder was in the top 2 for it’s replacement, but ended up with a MAK. Today the decision would be even harder with the Lone Star Grillz pooper out. I think Yoder makes some nice pellet grills.
