This little beast is demanding attention. Has asthma, and has been fighting a kitty cold since the holidays. Poor guy, you do not want to be in front of him when he sneezes.

RARE Weber Grill Restaurant Video (1997?)

We ate at the Weber Grill in Wheeling a few times when we lived in the Chicago area, took my parents there once. Never, ever, disappointed with the food or the service. The Irish Coffee's floor show was well worth it. Unfortunately, that location has long closed, but it looks like there are...

You know you're getting old when...

On the ever so slightly legal side, I'm probably going to put a 140db or so horn on the Civic next spring. I'm getting tired of people trying to change lanes through me.

    Old Phone

For anybody who get's spam/scam calls on their landlines..... I put in one of these a couple of years back: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0735QBGCL?tag=tvwb-20 It's cut the ring-throughs down to practically nothing. The scam calls are literally stopped at the door.

    Old Phone

The farmhouse where I grew up not only had a rotary phone, but was on a party line until I was almost through college, in the mid 80's. When the time came to convert to a dedicated line, the telco told my folks about a 3 month window or some such. Dad came into the farm yard one afternoon, and...

    Beer.

Cooper's makes some good stuff. I had an open tech support call a few years ago with a company based Down Under. He asked me to create a specific account with the password "RealAustraliansDontDrinkFosters". I chuckled and said "I can work with you!"

    Can't Eat BBQ Everyday

There are 2 things I learned from Mom growing up that really stick out. The first is how to make a velvety smooth cream sauce using a flat blade spatula (whisks, where have you been all my life!) It's really just the classic French method. The second is roasting off bacon in the oven. I was...

    Can't Eat BBQ Everyday

Mom had a lot of stuff written down. I may have to make a deal with my nieces to digitally photograph my mother's recipe box (my sister, their mother, has it. If she doesn't, my brother sure does) in exchange for posting up all of my little tips & tricks. Mom's Betty Crocker cookbook is well...

    Can't Eat BBQ Everyday

There are some things where recipes really do need to be followed. Baking is a good example. Ratios of flours, water, and leavenings are rather important, although you can deviate with some flavorings. Something like mashed potatoes you really don't need to strictly follow a recipe (please...

    Ever hurt your knee?

I have a similar issue in my left knee, from being stupid 40+ years ago. It flops around like the handle on a bucket. Fortunately, it only flops up into my knee joint when I push down forcefully on my left leg and torque around while pushing off. If I put any weight on my left leg at that...

    They're not "refs", they're officials!

The college pep band I played in for a couple of years got in trouble on a semi-regular basis with the NCAA for playing Three Blind Mice when the officials would skate out onto the hockey rink......

    Hey Larry...

My dear sir, I do agree with your most eloquent statement. :) You really do need to set a limit on repairs to *ANYTHING*. And don't get caught up in the heat of the moment, stick to your guns.

Under cabinet shelf microwave. Your thoughts.

@Bruno...... your GC ain't completely right. This house came with an over stove microwave & built-in hood, Magic Chef branded from 1993. Those generally (including this one,) have a baffle or redirector plate that will either vent out over the microwave, or up into ductwork to the outside.
