    Special pork shoulder cut

Nice job, Jan! That looks like a lot of pork...were you feeding a lot of people? Or just making sure you had leftovers? ;)

My wife has requested grilled salmon for this evening. Given my complete lack of experience grilling fish, I may be posting the results here.;)

I was kinda that guy (minus the Chin Wolverine), once. We were staying at a condo that had a gas grill and I used it one night, after not having grilled over gas for 20 years. When I took the food off I turned up the burners to clean the grates and went into dinner. After we were done eating...

    Mystery Plate

In the "Photo Gallery" forum, Kemper posted about how bad the barbecue he'd found was. Bob Bailey had this to say: So my first thought was, "mystery plate". But wait..."mystery plate" sounds an awful lot like "Mystery Date"! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_Date_(game) Time for some...

If forced to choose, I'd take the hail.

    Heckuva Hail Storm

Sounds like it was a pretty localized event and I hope your roof's OK. I just talked with my mom and she said nothing like that happened at her house. I asked her if she'd seen any roofers driving around and leaving business cards today and she said she hadn't, so I'm taking that as a good sign.;)

    Beer.

This has been a great thread, but it seems like y'all are missing one very important truth: Much like cheese, if it's not from Wisconsin it's not really beer.;););) Here are a couple I've tried this week; both are about $9-10 a sixer. I'm familiar with both breweries and they put out some...

    The End of CB Dominance?

I stumbled across this article by accident, and it's a pretty good read about how the BSCB might no longer be the end-all, be-all of chicken meat. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2025/04/chicken-thighs/682612/

    WDM/Valley Junction 'Cue Store

I visit Des Moines every April and last year I came across BW Outdoors in Valley Junction (there are also stores in Carroll and Iowa City). They have good selections of grills (although no Weber), tools and rubs, and even a freezer case for local products. And from time to time they have...

Tri-Tip Friday. Oak and a new rub!

You knocked it out of the park, Richard! Although what I find most impressive is the $5.99/lb price!;)

Think I am done dabbling in DIY auto work

Good work at fair prices? Once Corporate finds out they'll put a stop to that right away. ;)

    Full chicken wings

Nice wings, doofus. ;) At the store where I do most of my shopping, the whole wings are usually on styro trays that've been wrapped by the meat dept. It's the prepackaged multi-pound packs that contain the separated flats (yay!) and drummies (like, whatevs). Whole wings for me, please!

    Stars & Stripes Kettle

Great news - daisy wheels rule! I think you need to check your math, Tim. Unless you have a time machine (hot tub?) you're not telling us about. ;)
