Advice for first cook, chicken quarters.

Hello, I'm gonna do some quarters for my first cook and am looking for some advice as to what temp and how long. Probably will do some jerk and some Provençal. I'm planning to do indirect and crisp the skin direct at the end. Will one chimney of coals do I will I need to refill? And I was...

How accurate is the lid thermometer in the One touch premium? And other newbie Q's!

I'll be doing my first cook on my new 57cm kettle and I'm wondering about using the lid thermometer as a guide to know when I'm at the right temp. Is it usable? I've also got a cheap oven thermometer to pop on the grate. My thermapen hasn't arrived yet. Expensive hobby this bbq lark isn't it...

New Weber 57cm kettle, how tight should the lid be?

Hi, My new One Touch Premium arrived yesterday, s-weet! Quick question, how snug should the lid be? I looked at a jumbo joe the other day and the lid was really tight. On this one the lid has at least 5mm travel side to side. Is that ok? All in all it's just what I was looking for, can't...

Mmmmm, ribs! I guess the lid thermometer won't give me an accurate reading for the temp at the grate - are there any cheap thermometers that I can use? I've heard of the Maverick ET-jobby and can appreciate that having a probe in the meat during cooking would be really useful but it's too...

New guy in the UK thinking about getting first Weber.

Thanks Svein. They're both within budget, I'm currently looking at a deal that has the chimney starter, grey vinyl cover and a 12" t brush for £185. Seems a pretty good price. That's probably the way I'll go. What about fuel? I've always used FSC lumpwood in the past, but do you guys...

New guy in the UK thinking about getting first Weber.

Thanks everyone. The cheapest i can find the Premium new is £157. I can get the standard for around £90 and then buy the hinged grate but obviously it won't have the premiums ash pan or the thermometer. Which way to go?

New guy in the UK thinking about getting first Weber.

Hi, Up until now, I've just been grilling on a makeshift hibachi style using a black and decker workbench, a baking tray, an oven rack and some bricks. Unsophisticated I know, but the old B&D barbecue-mate has served me proud! But now I'm thinking that I'm missing something by not having a lid...
