Which smokey joe for a mini WSM.

Sounds like a good option would be SJS with a couple of WSM type vents added. But neither the SJS or the vent knits seem to be available in the UK anymore. I guess I'll watch out for something used. Thanks for the advice.

Which smokey joe for a mini WSM.

Thanks Tim, Reading through the thread the SJG seems more popular, although I still have 20 or so pages left. Whichever I get, adding 18" WSM vents might be a plan anyway. Cheers Dave

Which smokey joe for a mini WSM.

Although, i'm 60 pages into the original thread and many people are saying gold is best as the tin can with holes in can get covered on long cooks. Confused now! http://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?22543-S-J-Gold-Mini-WSM-Smoker/page60

Which smokey joe for a mini WSM.

Thanks. Sounds like the silver is the way to go. Although, in the UK, the 2014 range just has the original and premium versions that both have side vents. When did they stop having 3 bottom vents?

Which smokey joe for a mini WSM.

Thanks. I don't think I'd be able to find a cheap pot the right size over here. And a jumbo joe costs £80 over here which is about $135! For that money it'd probably be better to get a WSM. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks Eric. I've read your thread a few times, a great build full of inspiration.

Which smokey joe for a mini WSM.

What's the consensus on which version is best, vent in the bottom or one on either side? I'm looking for a used one at the moment and was wondering if one worked better than the other. Although the new crimson one is pretty awesome!

My build - the first Welsh Mini-WSM?

Thanks so much Sian, I'll give them a ring on Tuesday and see if they'll post one. If not, your offer of bringing it back this way is extremely kind. I'm just off junction 9 of the M5 so I'd happily come to you and collect. I'll ring them first but thanks again. How good is the fit with the...

Does anyone else have a link to a suitable pot? It's a nightmare and I don't want to order things and have to send them back. What are we all like!

    Steamer pot in the UK?

I'm desperate to build a mini WSM or mod a Jumbo Joe, but I'm struggling to find a pot over here. Can't find the Vasconia anywhere. Does anyone have a link to something online in the UK. I know it's a long shot but maybe someone can help. The ones that I've found online that may fit are just...

    My PORTABLE mini!

That's a great build, really impressive. I'm itching to build one myself but the pots are scarce/much more expensive in the UK. Dave

Mini WSM Build UK Build Help

I'm looking for one as well so any help would be appreciated. Is there a standard for how thick the pot material should be as well, should it be steel or aluminium? The vasconia pot that people use in the states is 14-1/4 inch diameter including rim (13-3/4 inch diameter without rim) x 13 inch...

New BBQ day in the UK - a charcoal Go Anywhere - any tips?

Thanks guys. I had a nice weekend on the coast with the family but was pretty much just excited to try out the Go Anywhere. One great thing I realised is that because of the shape of it, you can pack all the utensils, roll of tinfoil etc. inside it. Had a couple of beautiful night camping down...

New BBQ day in the UK - a charcoal Go Anywhere - any tips?

Hello, I've been wanting one of these for ages but they stopped selling them in the Uk. I bought a Jumbo Joe but it was 'decreed' that it was too big to pack in our camper van :roll eyes: I would have gone for the Smokey Joe Silver, not the Gold, but it looked a bit awkward to transport. But...

First cook on my new Kettle - smoked spatchcocked chicken.

Thanks guys for all the kind words, I really appreciate it. I'd read about doing that to keep them neat by making 2 slits in the skin and poking the drumstick ends through. I guess that's how the French do it.

First cook on my new Kettle - smoked spatchcocked chicken.

Not intentional, no. Where would you recommend to put it? It didn't boil off too much.

First cook on my new Kettle - smoked spatchcocked chicken.

Morning all, Finally got round to my first cook last night, had to wait till the kids were in bed and it was raining, but hey, we soldier on! I'd really appreciate any feedback on anything I should do differently. I'd invested in a few basic pieces of equipment: An oven thermometer Thermapen...
