Stuck at Rainbow screen on boot on RPI2 model B. Boots fine on RPI Model 1.

To answer your questions, since it's easy & it might be relevant to someone searching: Yes, you need a different image(s) than what is posted as of 8/16/2016 for the Pi2 or Pi3 (Linkmeter v13). That image(s) doesn't exist (yet). I don't know if the Pi2 & Pi3 will be rolled into the same image...

    Power source. barrel size. converter?

    It's GND, you're pretty safe.

    Thermoworks 1003X AP

I would turn off the heat to the boiling water & see if it tracks at -4* all the way down to room temp vs the redi-check. If so, I'd just adjust the offset for the probe & be done with it. If not, you need different coefficients.

    HONEST Power supply

Got a P/N for the supply? Search gives me a few hits, but they have different connections. I need a few good 12V supplies, my modified-ATX supplies are getting annoying, but at least they have accurate voltage (12/5/3.3). The wall-wort supplies that I have are 11-15V

    Fan Instead of Blower?

Most 12V fans will work, up to an amp or 2 (your power supply will be the first limit, then the PCB traces - can't remember what they're rated for off the top of my head). Fans are usually more efficient moving air w/o restriction, centrifugal blowers can overcome more static pressure (like...

    General 3D Printing Thread

Peter, I'm kicking around a build & noise is probably the #1 consideration. Any experience with smooth rod vs V-slot? my DaVinci is loud, both the steppers & the linear bearings. I'm not sure if quieter steppers & CoreXY would be enough, but I don't know how rod vs V-wheels affects things...

    IC4 Required? New Build Failed

On older revisions you could power the HM board from the Rpi, not sure when/if it changed (4.0 didn't need the 3v3 reg, but you would need to power the Pi via 5V).

    Raspberry Pi 3?

What you are suggesting is non-trivial. The initial 'link' in linkmeter was from linksys routers that were flashed with OpenWRT. That why the Pi platform was able to be update easily (OpenWRT runs on both). It would probably be easier to start from scratch, if someone was so inclined.

    new build lcd question

When you can see the LCD, look at the labels on the LCD header pins. Power, gnd, E(nable), etc. The 'D' pins are what actually sends the data. Dave circled D7 above. The pins right below that from the DIP shift register are what they connect to. on the opposite side, I think you also need...

You can get kits of 1% tolerance resistors on Amazon. Just make sure they have all the values you need.

    new build lcd question

Did you apply any solder to that side of the boards before mating or soldering the header? You would have to get 2 adjacent pins really hot & have a pool of solder for it to flow between those pins. Even though it looks like you got some of the LCD pins really hot, unless you blobbed solder on...

    new build lcd question

D5, D6, D7 don't look great on the front, D4 & E don't look good on the back. Flux the pins, heat them up till the solder on there melts, then add a bit. You'll probably get it goin.

$9 computer with wifi built in

Yeah & it doesn't look like either of the hardware revisions they've got posted. V2 has 3 mounting holes & the battery connector by the microUSB port (and vertical). Mine has 1 mounting hole, the battery connector is edge mounted horizontally on the other end of U14. Small, but possibly major...

    config file for on-boot wifi

Or just # (comment) it out. Can you have it set up for multiple SSIDs/PWs? Go down a list of 'preferred' SSIDs, the AP mode if none are found. /etc/network/interfaces worked like that on the beaglebone in Angstrom, but I haven't been able to put multiple networks in Debian (haven't tried real...

    3d Printed probe cord wrapper

'cord wrap' search in thingiverse results in approximately 100 million results (estimated) take yer pick. I have boxes of 10k rubber bands with a little christmas tree doohicky that allows you to secure the band to itself easier (you don't have to twist & pass the next loop over the bundle to be...
