    Ambient Temp Question

with no case & in open air, slight wind, upwind from smoker, the ambient thermister read ~6* higher than the 62* outside temp after getting everything stabilized. Inside my lego case, it gets up to about 8* higher while inside the house. I either adjust the offset & know that it won't be right...

    LinkMeter blower???

Yep I'm on the Broil King forum, don't think I've posted, but read a lot before buying. I've been doing chicken at 5-550* & it worked well (I usually pull a bit early). I didn't like it at 400*, so I went up a bit. Mostly boneless/skinless breasts. these were HUGE (I at 1/2 of one for dinner...

    UDOO board

UDOO looks good, but you might also look at the Beaglebone Black. both are sort of a Raspberry Pi + AVR on 1 board. At $45 (BBB) vs <$30 (Pi A + Atmel), it's probably not a cost improvement, but I'm waiting for mine for another project (fireworks controller via phone, 65 outputs of explosions)...

    WiFi help

Can you do "Static DHCP" on your router? That works better for me, as you don't have to configure the client. 6 of 1, half dozen of another if you know how to do static IP, but it is less config.

    LinkMeter blower???

Ralph - I had the fan intake & the top vent at a sliver. The problem I had was condensation plugging the top vent, then no flow. If I opened the vent enough to get flow,I overshot. I've only used the HM 1 time on a butt smoke. At 275+, it works awesome. I got overconfident after only using...

How many Heatermeter/Raspi built so far

My first one has already been counted (parts on hand for 2nd other than RPi), but I finally took some pictures of my Lego case.

    LinkMeter blower???

I'm having trouble with my Big Steel Keg getting TOO MUCH air with the spec'd blower (even when off, the open area is too large). It won't run well below 275* w/o choking down the intake on the fan & the top vent. Holds stable at 275*, need some time to play around with how much to choke the...

    Issues with Maverick ET732

D Peart is right on. The 732 probes read really flat up to about 80* so the linkmeter thinks there is no probe or it is malfunctioning. Whatever you do, DON'T assume you're getting a bad connectino & solder the probe plug into the jack to make it work more better. Ask me how I know this :D...

PitDroid: An Android app for your HeaterMeter

Mine hasn't crashed in over an hour. zoomed/scrolled the graph quite a bit. My heatermeter has been chugging away in the basement for 2 days now (Left it on while I'm at work so I can get forwarding working).

PitDroid: An Android app for your HeaterMeter

updated app crashes every time I try to load it on Galaxy S3. Previous version had never crashed before. Rebooted, uninstalled/reinstalled, still crashes whenever it starts. It was working before I updated, I had just got the heatermeter forwarding outside LAN working before I updated. I...

    Forwarding outside LAN

Success! Must have been a conflict on port 24. using >1000 has worked with 2 or 3 that I've tied. Thanks for all the help.

How many Heatermeter/Raspi built so far

It's not in front of me right now & I haven't done this yet so forgive any ambiguity, but there is a hyperlink at the bottom of the linkmeter config page. Set up your config, then bookmark that hyperlink. When you change back & forth between SV & smoker, just load the bookmark once the...

    Forwarding outside LAN

Success, somewhat. I turned on the DMZ on my Modem/router & fed the IP to my tomato router. Now, outside my network, I can type in HOST.no-ip.org:24 in a browser & get the linkmeter webpage. I can't get it from INSIDE my network, so I'd have to switch back & forth. PitDroid doesn't work...

    Forwarding outside LAN

I have it forwarding to port 80 now.... I'm not getting through my DSL Modem/router. i can connect to the wifi on that router (I keep it open as a guest account) and type in the tomato router IP:24 & I get the web page. Now to figure out how this stupid thing forwards ports.

    Forwarding outside LAN

This is more of a ID10T question than heatermeter related, but I can't get heatermeter outside my LAN. I have Static DHCP set up so heatermeter always has same IP I have no-ip.org host. I can get web page & pit droid to connect inside LAN (my only issue is the ET732 probes @ room temp...) I...

How many Heatermeter/Raspi built so far

Thought that would work, but didn't want to chance it. Already removed the socket, not so nicely to try to save it. My soldering iron was a POS, now I bought a nice Aoyue, so I can probably clean it up & re-use the board (assuming the idiot behind the wand can do it....). I'll just need...

How many Heatermeter/Raspi built so far

Got mine done yesterday (working on Keg mount today). Might build a 2nd as I screwed up the 1st PCB, might be able to save it (28-pin socket on backward...)
