    Bacon made easy

In the first post, one of the steps says; "Add brown sugar, and/or spices, if you would like." I noticed in the recent Cooking Topics, one of the steps heading says; "Two Required Ingredients: Morton Tender Quick + Sugar" My question is if Sugar is "required"? I wanted to just add Peper and...

First Weber Gas Grill - 1993 Genesis Red 1100

Thanks. I actually picked up another identical red Genesis today. A friend saw mine and wanted one so I checked CL and found another well kept Red Genesis 1000. Only difference was I grabbed this one for $10 and had the heavy CI grates. EE serial, so I believe that's 1999.

    Grill Brush Bristle Danger Reminder

It may not be purpose built for cleaning grills, but this tool or similar can be found in the garden dept of any Home Depot/Lowes or Amazon easily, and very similar to the billy bar. Handle may be a little shorter than desired but similar result and cheap, probably $10 or less. [/IMG]...

    Chop Top Pizza Oven Mod

Interesting. I was thinking of picking up the Pizzaque to try but I may just grab an old 22" off CL and try this. How did you make the cuts! I was thinking a diamond blade on a dremel? What was the thought behind the double lid in your trial version? Does the red get just as hot?

    Rotisserie for Genesis 1000

Thanks. I'll pull it apart and see how it looks. You may be right, as this box looked like it sat somewhere many years, but everything inside was new. It definitely sounded like it was binding. I tapped it a few times and it started turning, but only for another minute or two.

    Rotisserie for Genesis 1000

I pulled an old one out (Brinkmann I think) and tried it mounted at first. While it fit on the bracket perfect, it is not deep enough to allow the roti spit to shift left far enough so the rounded edges fit in the firebox slots. That's when I tilted it just enough that one side of the bracket...

    Rotisserie for Genesis 1000

I picked it up off eBay. It was brand new and still in the factory sealed package. it worked fine for one hour and then the motor died. I read reviews online about this model and many people had the motor fail. I pulled out an old model from another grill and rigged it so it would barley...

    Rotisserie for Genesis 1000

Ok so I should have kept tinkering before posting that. Figured it out. The motor fits super snug on the bracket when new I guess. I pushed down harder on the motor while holding the bracket and it pushed on another 1/4" and now everything turns nice and smooth. Just need to add chickens now.

    Rotisserie for Genesis 1000

I picked up what I believe is the correct Rotisserie for my Genesis 1000. It's Weber 9890. It definitely seems like the correct model as the spit rod rounded sections for the side of the firebox slots line up, and the bracket bolted on with ease. However when i close the lid, it's resting on...

    older genesis wont get hot

How are you lighting it? There is a safety feature in the regulator that may be engaged. Be sure to open tank first with burners all off. Wait a second or two and then turn nob for burner for lighting. If the reverse approach (burner turned on then tank opened) the safety feature is likely...

Platinum I 2200 Red Head Restoration / Rebuild Questions

Kevin, if your frame is in good shape, I wouldn't get into sanding and painting it. Mine was in good shape and I figured I should repaint it while working on everything else. I regretted how much work I had to do, just to get it back in shape as once sanded and using gloss, it showed all the...

    Are you Kidding ME ???

I just finished mine and can say I used oven cleaner with no issues. I put the FireBox, grease tray, and sides I an industrial garbage bag and sprayed the whole can of oven cleaner in it. Sealed the bag and left it overnight. From there I only used a small putty knife. Mine cleaned up pretty...

First Weber Gas Grill - 1993 Genesis Red 1100

Thanks for the comments. For some reason I'm still checking CL for used ones. I would like to get a 3000 or 4000 model to use the frame and move this FB over. I'll need to wait and see.......

First Weber Gas Grill - 1993 Genesis Red 1100

Here are a few items I learned along the way. They may already be on the boards somewhere, but figured I'd add the here in no particular order. - Take pictures of everything before you start. I was constantly going back to pictures to see what was where, or what was even visible when...

First Weber Gas Grill - 1993 Genesis Red 1100

Last weekend I finished up the restore of my first Weber Gas grill. The grill was in really great shape, so my efforts were fairly minimal compared to what I've read by some here. All in all, it took about two days of work, but lots of time waiting for paint and stain to dry. The largest...

Okay I'm sold! Going to make a 26" Performer

Thanks for the info Cliff. This is very very impressive. You answered my second question on the frame joints (mortise and tenons). Any tips from the frame joints into the bat blanks?
