    Refurb assistance needed in NYC

You're welcome Bruce ! Just an FYI for anyone else, the part number from Weber is part# 4038590. According to my CSR, they show as having about 180-200 or so remaining in stock priced at $5.00 per.

    Gift for a friend

Yeah, ain't that the truth. It's not like we ever see a bunch of Weber's being sold, but it's been very dry this year.

All of that batch have been spoken for. But, I have 20 more coming in to hopefully cover everyone quoted above to start with.

Deep freeze shut down, did I lose the meat?

Did you by chance stick an accurate thermometer into the briskets ? The general rule/guideline is 4 hours between 40 - 140. But, I've been known to fudge it more than a bit for "intact/whole" pieces of meat.

Are these old kettles worth any thing?

https://youtu.be/TxM2oYTZRak I've also seen it done with a washer on both the inside and outside of the bowl. Can't find a link to that thread though.

    Kettle rotisserie

Hate to say, but like many accessories, you'll either love, use it all the time and wonder how you ever did without it...... Or, you'll use it a couple of times the first month, then it'll go into the pile of other unused accessories. That said, if you can get it for $75, buy it immediately...

Looking for a history of Performer grills ... as I want to buy one,

On the igniter, take a look from below while pressing the igniter to make sure you are getting a spark. Then, from above, turn on the gas and try to light the end of the tube manually. If you get a spark AND you can light manually, then the problem is most likely the alignment of the orifice...

    Refurb assistance needed in NYC

Guys, My apologies for the long delay in replying. They are $5 each from Weber, plus shipping of course. I went ahead and ordered 10 of them since I was ordering other stuff anyways. I'm guessing they would be safe being sent in a regular envelope with an index card. I'll let them go for...

Are these old kettles worth any thing?

FWIW, some people would probably jump all over either one, or both of those, over at the Weber kettle Club. Oh, and that's talking about "as they currently are", without any sprucing up or the replacing of any parts (including grates)

Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

FWIW, with gas grills, the hole really won't be a problem. More of an aesthetic thing. On the cook box itself, might have some bad news for you. The original finish has texture to it. To date, I can't recall anyone having successfully duplicated it. Since you've taken it down to bare...

Ryan's Genesis Silver B "Cape Grill" Resto

FWIW, it looks like you could get a few more years out of those grates. For the loose ends where the welds have popped, line the bars up and drive in a 3/8th or so self-tapping stainless steel screw into each one. Or, if you have a pop riveter, that will work as well.

Looking for a history of Performer grills ... as I want to buy one,

FWIW, just about all of the differences between the Gen2 and Gen4 are stylistic to some degree. Gen4 has the metal table which some prefer. Also, the newer lid bale allows the lid to stand straight up instead of at a bit of an angle. But, you can always buy those and swap it onto a Gen2...

    From Trash to T-Bone

It does. I was thinking of a later model like this one: On those models, there's no cross member going from left to right. Only from front to back. The wire rack or full metal pan is the lateral support.

Doh, you are right. I should have looked more closely at his pics. I just tool a 2004 Genny gild c apart last night. It only has lower cross members going front to back, not side to side. Shoot, I'm 0 for 2 with this grill. Think I'll just sit back and watch at this point.

    From Trash to T-Bone

Fwiw, the bottom rack/shelf is structural support to keep the legs from bowing, so you'd want to put something there. Either a rack, a bottom pan, or maybe even some all thread rod

    From Trash to T-Bone

Hahaha, nice grill, but it's a total mutt! The badge on the lid says Genesis Gold, yet the enameled lid is black instead of stainless steel. Second, I'm pretty sure that the side shelves and frame are actually from a Genesis Platinum. That said, it's a very nice grill. I'd love to have...
