Tim thanks for the reply. Besides the burn in I have used it a total of 3 times. These aren't minor leaks. Smoke pours out of the door and the lid joint. It has a 1/8" gap in the middle and touches on the 2 outer edges. It appears to have a slight concave curvature rather than convex to match...
Tim the gap in the center of the door is close to 3/16" and then touches as it reaches the outside edges. There is no way it's going to seal. I ordered the gasket kit and hope that will help.
My new WSM leaks air like a sieve. Door, and both joints. Hard to maintain temp without adding fuel. Burns a lot of charcoal. Closing dampers does help but then temp drops too much. Is this normal? Is there a fix? Any help would be appreciated.

The Mrs. bought some baby back ribs so I could try out my new smoker. :wsm22: It was 34 deg and lt. snow flurries. I have a covered area so it wasn't too bad. Used Kingsford ultimate performance briquets because that's all they had at Home Depot. Use the fire starter and that worked well. Also...
Chris one more question. The rubber grommet that is supplied with the grill to insert therm probes seems impossible to insert. Ant tips? I was thing to apply some dish soap to lubricate.
Thanks
Bob Cef

Hi I'm Bob and live in Buffalo NY I am new to smoking and will probably have a lot of questions. My new 18 1'2" smoker arrived and while assembling I found that the screw to mount the handle is missing. I was hoping that someone could tell me what size thread and length the screw is so that I...
