Frustration with temp reliability. Probe placement or other issues?

Similar weird issues today. My thermistor probe is reporting temp drop while the TC is holding steady. Probe placement is looking good. Take a look and comment if anyone has thoughts. http://73.164.123.108:6328/luci

Frustration with temp reliability. Probe placement or other issues?

Doing another identical cook to my last problem one. Re-adjusted the probes, using both TC and thermistor today. Ambient temp much warmer (30F vs 5F). https://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?45777-Post-your-live-HeaterMeter-Cooks&p=877415&viewfull=1#post877415

Going to throw some St Louis cut, Memphis prepped ribs on the Pit Boss today. I remounted my TC probe to be clipped on the end of the stock dome thermometer and left my thermistor probe protected on the grate. Ambient temp here in Minnesota is 30F (warm) [Removed] Comments welcome.

Frustration with temp reliability. Probe placement or other issues?

@Gary @Bryan My TC has a cap and has only been used two times. Guess I'll have to experiment more once I adjust my other prob placements. @Gary, I wonder if you can snip off and re-weld/join the alligator clip end so you don't have to replace the whole thing. Gotta expect just the tip/end of...

Frustration with temp reliability. Probe placement or other issues?

I didn't notice any noise icons/warnings and yes, I did read that the firmware was recently updated with it built in now instead of being separate. I'll keep an eye out for that. While my probe is indeed a Thermoworks Pro-Series High Temp Air Probe (from my Smoke RF monitor) but it worked just...

Frustration with temp reliability. Probe placement or other issues?

Hey folks, been using my HM for several months now, sometimes with great results and other times with frustration. Yesterday did ribs at ~225f starting at 11am. Everything was going well until ~230pm. At that time the reported pit temp (thermistor prob) reported a climbing temp and meanwhile...

Micro SD Extension Cable for RPi Zero W

Has anyone tried to use a microsd extension like this one for making the microsd card available without opening the case? https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B07DSXGZ1L/tvwb-20 I haven't found one yet that has a clickable "keystone" to mount to the edge of the case but I presume somewhere...

Need 3D printed Case for Heatermeter 4.2

Awesome, I'll give it a whirl. I used to play around with 3d modeling stuff a LONG time ago and have done some limited 3d printing, so not completely useless I hope.

Adding a timer to the HeaterMeter?

Are there any threads discussing the languages/architecture knowledge needed to contribute to adding features like this? While i might be so-so at hardware, i am a programmer by profession.

    Feedback on first cook?

Thanks Gary. I also have an Adapt-a-Damper so will experiment with Bryan and your suggestions next cook. Will be a couple weeks before I fire it up again.

    Feedback on first cook?

I never had to replenish the fuel; see below for picture of final after everything cooled down. Settings currently are I believe default: P = 4 I = 0.02 D = 5 Fan=Voltage, On Above=0%, Min=0%, Max=30%, Startup=100% - I find it interesting that the difficulties started so close to when I...

    Feedback on first cook?

Threw two pork butts on the Pit Boss yesterday for a maiden run with my HeaterMeter. Turned out pretty well, was happy with how the HM + damper worked. Graph below. A little after 18:28 when things stabilized is when meat was put on. About 5 hours in when you see the other blips it was me foil...

Big Green Egg XL and Heatermeter 4.3

My general thoughts mainly on reading a bunch through all of the forum history is any kamado grill you will be more than fine. Bigger offset smokers probably more of a concern. Again, no XL direct experience here though.

Heatermeter Aux. Thermocouple And two probe board V6.1(Final Version)

Thanks Ralph! Looks like a good way to keep the HM out of the elements or out of a curious kid's hands.

Heatermeter Aux. Thermocouple And two probe board V6.1(Final Version)

Noob easy question... is the sole purpose of this board to allow the HM main unit to be a remote distance away (up to 50') from the actual smoker? So only the Cat5 cable + damper need to be on the grill/smoker?
