Can we talk about the Char Broil Big Easy?

Good deal. I have a 14lber brining since yesterday. It will go in this afternoon. I'm going to go ahead and foil the bottom of the cooking vessel

Can we talk about the Char Broil Big Easy?

It's relatively new for me, I've done 3-4 chickens all were amazing. I do have the foil liners for the drip tray. I'm thinking about foiling the bottom of the stainless vessel. Even after 4 chickens it got fairly "chunky", I easy offed it for clean turkey drippings, but I would rather not have...

Can we talk about the Char Broil Big Easy?

I usually do two turkeys, this year I'm doing one on the char broil big easy. If you're not familiar, it basically uses infrared, it's almost like a propane air fryer. They're fairly inexpensive, under $100 on sale, way less right after thanksgiving used once...

Biggest turkey to easily fit in Weber 26.75# kettle

Once you hit 18-20lb the breasts tend to overweigh the rest of the bird. Fitment aside, you're usually better off with two smaller birds. You now have twice as many drums, thighs, wings. If you're serving a 20lb turkey then you have 8-10 people who I promise will be happier with some more dark...

    Smoked butterball

Also love the "footballs". I prefer the all white meat ones. All they need is some pepper, smoke until 165-170f, amazing easy sandwich meat

Turkey Time - Gas Grill Turkey cooking

This year I'm doing ours on the char broil big easy. So technically "gas" but not a grill, more of an air fryer. https://www.charbroil.com/learn/how-does-the-big-easy-turkey-fryer-work/ I am SUPER partial to the Rodelle turkey brine https://rodellekitchen.com/products/gourmet-turkey-brine/ and...

    GAWG keeping it clean

It's been years since I messed with foiling the gas GAW but I believe I just made a "pan" for the bottom only. Nowadays, if I need gas I'm bringing the Q. Wife and two kids, a GAW isn't quite large enough

Blasting the box: which tool do you use?

The kit that I have, is not really designed for use often. It's not even a cabinet. Just a gun and bucket for media, about $20 w/ coupon, plus another $20 for a big box of walnut shell media. I bet it would work well for onesies twosies of grills, maybe not for continually refurbing and re-using...

Blasting the box: which tool do you use?

Has anyone done walnut blasting? I have the kit from harbor freight that I used for another project. I'm hesitant to use the strong oven cleaners as they tend to cause pitting in aluminum. Last rehab I wire wheeled it but man, the dust/mess. I'm envisioning walnut blasting in a large cardboard...

Potential Alternative to KillaGrilla stainless steel flip grate

I have to say, after buying rcplanebuyer grates for my genesis, I REALLY REALLY like the super thick rods. I'm fine if they're spaced out, but the thick rod stock does a lot to get good sear marks

WGA - GrillGrates don't fit due to the lid hanger, notching the grates voids the warranty?

That is only part of the issue. My frustration is not interference for the tabs - I already notched out the grates to clear them. The problem is that the rails themselves hold the lid open. This is a far more complicated thing to correct - basically have to notch out 1/4" square from every...

WGA - GrillGrates don't fit due to the lid hanger, notching the grates voids the warranty?

Correct. Which is why I'm so annoyed that the grillgrates site states that the lid tabs might cause interference. That's an easy notch out fix. However to make the grates effectively work is going to require a lot of grinding off the edges of the tops of the rails so that the lid will sit flat...

    Weber Gas Go-Anywhere vs Q1200

The go anywhere shines in the charcoal version. It's a lot "cleaner" and easier to deal with vs the gas go anywhere. The Q1200 is a fantastic grill, but make no mistake it's a lot larger and heavier. If you combine it with a rolling stand it's a lot easier to move around. For a beach grill I...

    GAWG keeping it clean

The bottom of the grill is effectively a drip pan. They are very messy. Even foil, the grease will seep down, it's hard to mitigate. I use mine primarily for lean steaks (ny strip, tenderloin) and hot dogs. The Q1000 series are FAR easier in this regard. I rarely use my gas GAW because of the...

WGA - GrillGrates don't fit due to the lid hanger, notching the grates voids the warranty?

Sure see attached. Basically, the grillgrates are tall enough to where the "rails" won't allow the lid to completely close. I took this pic ducking down, it's enough to where you can see inside the grill. If you're standing up the lip of the lid hides it.

WGA - GrillGrates don't fit due to the lid hanger, notching the grates voids the warranty?

Thanks Brad, yes I did get the reply, that if I pay to ship them back y'all will issue a refund. I appreciate that. I decided to keep them since by the time I pay for return shipping I'm in deep enough to use them on another grill. My frustration is, and granted this is a sample size of only...

    New to Q grilling

Another thing to consider, the iron grates also serve as flavorizer/heat deflectors. They get very hot, and hold heat for awhile. For steaks/burgers you need to rotate (to create cross hatch marks and also prevent burning) before flipping. You will probably cook on a lower heat setting that...

WGA - GrillGrates don't fit due to the lid hanger, notching the grates voids the warranty?

Last update, checked these with my WGA gas These will work better on the WGA gas, however it still holds the lid up by about 1/2". It won't matter as much since you're mainly doing direct grilling, and a little extra airflow on a gas grill doesn't matter. However for the WGA charcoal...

Can we talk about taming wild Salmon
