    Pool Pump longevity

I started using the skimmer socks 2 years ago. They work great especially in Spring when the green pollen coats everything.

    Pool Pump longevity

I like the concept. Leaves aren't an issue for us. Not many trees with leaves nearby. The houses on either side of us have pools... although one is still being built and it hasn't been plastered yet. But the borough requires they border the pool decks with Leyland Cypress or Skyrocket Juniper or...

    Pool Pump longevity

I spent countless hours and $$$ on Polaris 360s. Hoses, bearings, tires, tail sponges...the list goes on. I ditched it 2 years ago for an inexpensive, cordless rechargeable robot from Amazon. It does a great job and it's easy to empty, clean and recharge. Ofuzzi Cyber 1200 Pro Cordless Robotic...

How often do you clean the exterior of your smoker?

My Oakford sits down below our deck about 12' from the 10th fairway marker. I've also tried shooting some of that Zep Orange cleaner at the smokestack area...letting it sit for a minute and then spraying it from the deck with the hose...cover off obviously. It actually works OK but is the...

How often do you clean the exterior of your smoker?

I wipe mine down with a wet microfiber cloth and some spray cleaner when I vacuum out the ash and brush the grates and drip pan. After 4-5 cooks I spray some Greased Lightning around the smokestack and wipe that area. Looks like new after that. I also keep it covered and I keep pellets in the...

    Pool Pump longevity

I'm OK with chlorine. I've been through 3-4 of those Hayward chlorinators and tossed them after 1-2 years. Getting the screw down lids off was impossible, even with lubing the threads and O ring with Superlube and the special plastic wrench. I use the chlorine floater. Works perfectly.

    Pool Pump longevity

No, chlorine or salt doesn't effect pump longevity. It's the pump motor that has issues and I know you can just replace the motor. But I'm disinclined to do so as there are other seals and bearings which wear out. DE filters are the most efficient and my filter is way oversized for our pool...

    Pool Pump longevity

I agree. The pool service we use is very good. They're a family owned business that has been around for years. Extremely reliable. We can walk or ride our bikes to the beach but often just choose to sit by the pool. Also, pools aren't as maintenance intensive as those home buyer shows always...

    Pool Pump longevity

My concern there is that the unit has overheated triggering auto shut-off so the heat can damage the pump seals. I was considering replacing the entire system... filter included as it's 25 years old now. Pool service says it's fine. I stopped buying heaters. They all sucked...never more than...

    Pool Pump longevity

I hear you. I'm pretty good at DIY... but most of the pool stuff I leave to pros...and I hate plumbing.

    Pool Pump longevity

It's chlorine. I run it about 11 hours per day every day from early May-mid October. It sits out completely exposed except for this plastic canopy I bought for it years ago. I'm going to go for a new Hayward...I'm sure it will be close to $1000 installed. The Pentairs look pretty good but are...

    Pool Pump longevity

Had the pool pump at the beach house replaced 8 years ago. It's a Hayward Superpump 1hp. We had an unusually high amount of pollen this Spring along with a bit of new home construction nearby but I know the pool service cleaned the DE(diatomaceous earth) filter screens when the pool service...

    The Searwood has arrived!

So three pellet grills? Don't you hit a point of diminishing returns with owning three grills that all do the same thing in the same way?

    Chipmunks ARRRGH!!!!!

Yeah...9mm birdshot. .38 works too. I dispatched a snake in our basement some years back with my Ruger P85...tried every opportunity to capture it and set it free. Hissing and threatening one of my dogs...No. Blew its head clean off.

    Traeger at Costco

That's about right, it was the first thing I noticed. Having the cheap sheet metal cabinet underneath speaks volumes to quality.

    Traeger at Costco

I've seen several models at Ace that looked solid but they were more expensive. I know there's better quality and value pellet grills out there than this one at this price point.

    Traeger at Costco

I think quite a few items are regional. Coffee beans for sure.

    Traeger at Costco

Took a quick look at this Traeger which they were displaying close to the entrance at Costco today. Very unimpressive. The lid was light and flimsy. Grates were similar to what's on my Nexgrill Oakford... Overpriced at $650. Ridiculous at $750. First time I've seen a pellet grill in Costco though.
