Should I buy even with the condition of the top

Good decision! I have rebuilt 4 of these Genesis grills and it is a very rewarding experience. Just by the picture my experience says no way on that one! A nice one will come along eventually and you will be glad you waited. Dan

Should I buy even with the condition of the top

I don't think there is a fix for the lid. It is some kind of ceramic coating and can't really be painted. People with chips paint the chip area but I don't think you could successfully paint the entire hood. It needs a new lid.

Should I buy even with the condition of the top

I have purchased two older Genesis (and given two free) and just for your info I am not sure I would even take it for free. The top is a mess and the swing table appears missing. I would agree with Rich that it has seen a very hot fire and may be warped. These grills come available on a...

    Genesis 1000 "Z" braket?

Send rcplanebuyer on ebay a message. He doesn't advertise them but he makes SS Z brackets for the Genesis grill. He is the only source I know of for these brackets, I have purchased 3 sets from him. They are expensive but will last forever. Here is a link to his SS grates you can use to send...

Bryan, can we PLEASE have a servo option!

No, just to have it like it used to be. I was operating in a unique area that had interference messing with the servo. All I had to do was move my heatermeter and all is well. Chances of anybody else having this problem is 0. I am 15 hours into a pork butt and no issues since relocating...

Bryan, can we PLEASE have a servo option!

An option to have the servo on continuous.

Bryan, can we PLEASE have a servo option!

Edit: I deleted the post because in retrospect nobody is using their Heatermeter in the way that I am and for anyone else to experience the same behavior I am is one in a million. So not really fair to ask for something just for me. I have moved the Hetermeter outside by the Egg and it is...

V13 firmware servo not always closing

I isolated the cause of the servo movement and as crazy as it sounds it is definitely from static electricity generated by my flannel shirt and cloth chair I was sitting in. All heatermeter components were about 3 feet away (and not touching me or chair) but when I would get out of chair the...

V13 firmware servo not always closing

It does appear to be the servo. I have two blowers both with Hitec HS55 servos and they both did the same thing. I replaced one blower with a Hextronic servo and problem went away. I sort of figured it wasn't the Heatermeter or V13 when nobody else was experiencing the phantom movements. Not...

V13 firmware servo not always closing

FWIW here is a video of the damper moving on its own. In the beginning I put it into lid open mode then you will want to drag forward to 2 minute mark which is just before it moves past closed. Edit: Video removed - problem solved

V13 firmware servo not always closing

Yes, that is exactly what happens but it can be any time up to 2 minutes or so. It happens a lot to me so if nobody else is reporting it then it must be my heatermeter/setup. My 4.2 is not new, been around since they were introduced and I have never seen this before. I do have a video of it so...

V13 firmware servo not always closing

OK. Got it to do it again and this time I was ready for it. What is happening is that about 20 seconds after lid mode closes damper it is sometimes getting a signal to rotate damper PAST closed position about 20%. All I noticed before is that it was 20% open not realizing it was 20% other...

V13 firmware servo not always closing

AHAH! Sitting here trying to get damper to fail to close putting into and out of lid open mode. It closed every time, but I just left it closed this time and about 30 seconds into the lid opened mode the damper opened about 20% on it's own and stayed there. I think there is a gremlin in V13...

V13 firmware servo not always closing

Here we go again but maybe it's my setup. Just did first cook with new v13 and servo didn't close damper 3 times during 45 minute chicken cook. Wasn't even close, damper would be about 20% open all three times. Testing afterwards it worked perfect on the bench every time. Only difference...

    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

Just looking to install it but where I usually get snapshots "http://capnbry.net/linkmeter/snapshots/bcm2708/" still shows 9/30/2015. I can't find the new one, nor sure where else to look.

    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

I just want to add that it is not always closing for me also with the latest snapshot. Twice during last cook (yesterday) the servo didn't go all the way closed when I selected lid open on heatermeter. The timing may have been a factor as the damper was almost full open when I selected lid...

    Servo always buzzing

First real use of this new code on a 16 hour butt cook. I noticed during the cook that the temp was holding 10 degrees high with fan/damper at zero on heatermeter. The temp wasn't dropping which is strange for my egg. Went out and saw damper maybe 10% open when should be closed. Thought...

Fan set to "on at max only"

FWIW I used the manual reset on the heatermeter a few days ago as I switched from Uverse to Comcast for internet and decided to just start from scratch. I had loaded the 9/8 snapshot then today the 9/29. All is working well for me after doing all that. [/IMG]

Fan set to "on at max only"

Just tried mine with 9/29 snapshot and it is working correctly doing the same type of test you did. So something is up with your settings somewhere.
