    hot plate

I experimented, making an electrice trash can smoker a few years ago. I tried using various hot plates, but they all had plastic (or bakelite) parts which at best turned brown, and at worst melted and gave off noxious fumes. They also have the therostat built into the the body, so thay don't...

    WSM Jacket

I don't have the BBQ Guru jacket - I made my own, but the result should be the same. I use my jacket in all weathers - Wind, rain, snow and sunshine. It really helps stabilise temperatures, and reduces the amount of charcoal used. I agree with Ed, that it's a required purchase in cold, windy...

    BBQ Pitmasters

I'm very disapointed with the second season, especially as the first was so good. Did anybody else notice at the beginning, when the teams and their equipment were introduced, Melissa Cookston from Yazoo's Delta Q said that she would be using a simple charcoal grill. The grill was square and...

Post a picture of your grill area! *****

My WSM lives in the garden. It moves around a bit but at the moment it's sitting on top of a manhole cover. The manhole cover covers the 700 foot deep bore hole for my geothermal heating system. -Mark.

    Weber Q Model Comparison Chart

Hi, I contacted Weber about the weights, and this is the reply I received: Thank you for your e-mail. The Q100 weighs 29.2lbs, the Q120 weighs 30.6lbs, the Q200 weighs 42.1lbs and the Q220 weighs 45.1lbs. I will also recommend to my superiors that this information be added to our website...

    GoAnywhere in a storm

The storm looked dramatic as it rolled across the sea, but it gave us good warning of what was coming so we managed to cut our escape pretty fine. Summer is quite short and sometimes unpredictable here. I moved from Atlanta 1.5 years ago, and I miss the weather - And the Q -Mark.

    Weber Q Model Comparison Chart

That's a good question, and would be good to know for the portables. I checked a couple of Weber's internatonal sites and didn't find this information (they sometimes have more/different information on different regional sites). Perhaps somebody who owns a Q100/120/200/220 could weigh it and...

    GoAnywhere in a storm

Recently we went to the beach on a nearby island, and of course I took the GA to grill some kabops. The wind was blowing a gale and the only place to shelter the grill was behind a rock. Despite the wind, the food was excellent - Sorry, didn't have time to take pictures Just when we had...

    Weber Q Model Comparison Chart

The 320 includes a warming rack, whereas the 300 doesn't - It can be purchased as an accessory for the 300. The difference in cooking areas must be due to Weber counting the area of the warming rack for the 320. I'll add this info to the table. The only differences betweek the Q300 and Q320...

    40th birthday "haul"

Happy birthday, Chris! Sounds like you had a great time! I don't know how you survived for so long without a Thermapen and meat grinder - They're two of my top gadgets -Mark.

    OTG Transformation

Well done! That looks excellent! I like that it has a handle for wheeling it around, like the older Performer. -Mark.

    which one

I just use an empty, foiled water pan. My temperatures are rock solid, so I don't see any need to change. -Mark.

    One-Touch Pro Classic

In Europe you can also get a Performer without gas assist: It costs about $15 more than the Pro Classic. Both of these grill are a couple of hundred Euros more than the OTG, which is a lot of lolly for a table. 1 Euro = $1.3 -Mark.

SJ one touch vent mod - confused

Weber don't do a one touch version of the SJ. As you have read, people have added the one touch mechanism to the SJP (P for Platinum) because it's 18.5", but it won't fit the smaller SJs. The only vent mod for the SJG seems to be to add a bottom vent, like the SJS has. -Mark.

Cold smoked salmon in a Go Anywhere

Hello Geir. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. There isn't actually much inside the smoke generator. At the bottom of the tube there's the fine wire mesh from a tea strainer which is just cut to size and pushed into the tube to hold the wood chips and act as a kind of grate. I light the...

Best Dang Steak Technique i have found

I tried this method when this thread first started, but I didn't read the whole article. I just read the bit about using 'a lot of salt', letting it rest for an hour, and rinsing it well. I followed these instructions with zeal, literally burying the steak in salt and leaving it there for an...
