    Advice for those cooking on wood decks

    I put some patio blocks down on top of my deck where my grill sets, that way I have a nice layer of protection for the wood. I was lighing my coals on my side burner until I saw where a small piece fell thru and burnt a spot between two deck boards, I stopped doing that.

    How to cook with wood...

    I have cooked with wood, you have to cook over the flames, I waited until they were coals and it seemed like they were to used up way then. I use red oak because I have a lot of it.

    i can get a little rammy when things aren't going right, and somehow I pushed the button while holding on to the ignitor, and it got me good!

    try bending the electrode away from the burner a little bit, so the spark has to jump a wider gap. My gasser had the same problem and thats how I fixed it, do not touch the the electrode while pushing the button! ask me how I know.
