Time needed to salt or season meat

I remember reading an article out there on the ol' interwebs about when to salt meat before grilling. Basically, it said that salting the meat and letting it sit before grilling resulted in better flavor than salting/seasoning right before grilling or right after grilling (that one is obvious)...

Is this Genesis set up for LP or Natural Gas?

This is what a Weber Summit NG looks like when only the regulator was changes. Yours looks like it was done correctly.

    I thought I scored a deal on a Weber Gold Summit D6

Maybe it has something to do with the material composition of the molds used by Weber back in the day. Status update: Inside side panels and outside of back panel got painted, but my wiping cloths weren't as lint free as I thought and I had to sand them down and repaint on Saturday. Sunday...

Hardware parts list for Genesis restoration - what parts did you buy?

Upon a suggestion from someone here, I hit up a local Fastenal store. Great folks and shipping was much, much cheaper than if I ordered through Fastenal online.

Performer Deluxe near Columbus, OH $75

There are three in the greater Houston area in the $50-$100 range. It's crazy.

Completed/sold listings on ebay peg it at $75-100 new in box.

The handle on my performer gets hot.

My wife was using my old kettle one night making dinner and the handle got hot and she dropped the lid onto the hook breaking the hook right off the inside of the lid. That was no fun and I never fixed it. I had to set the lid on the ground.

My workhorse is getting too old?

The handle rusting problem is why I had to retire my kettle a few years ago. It was rusting all the way around the the part where is was welded to the lid. In theory, you could simply drill a hole through the weld and bolt a strap of metal underneath for reinforcement. The finish could be taken...

    My 26" Performer

I like it. It would be a beast to move. How wide is it overall?

I saw that on Letgo too, but didn't contact the seller since I figured the wifey would kill be for bringing home something else.

Newbie looking for tips on using the WSM

I'll also join the chorus recommending the 18.5" model. It is the most versatile. I've never owned a 14.5 in once, but I can't imagine trying to smoke a full packer on one. I can barely fit them on my 18.5". For a thermometer, Mavericks are good, but a Thermoworks Smoke would be great. I will...

First cook (Ribs) with my 18.5 WSM

I always used water before I got my Stoker as I felt it controlled the heat better. I always foiled my water pan too thinking it helps with clean-up.

Weber Genesis LX series vs regular

The grease tray can fill with water in heavy rain if you don't have a cover. Then you have a greasy, watery mess under your grill on your patio.

    I thought I scored a deal on a Weber Gold Summit D6

I don't think it would handle the heat since it is the firebox. The cart parts I want to be smooth and glossy. Well, about as smooth and glossy as I can get while spraying in a garage using rattle can paint.

    I thought I scored a deal on a Weber Gold Summit D6

That annoyed me too when I looked at it. Since it's cast metal, I can't really think of a way to recreate it. I could sand that section completely smooth and repaint it. But, I think I will just end up living with it as is. I honestly thought it would be easier to feather in the areas where the...

    I thought I scored a deal on a Weber Gold Summit D6

Hood is assembled, but I might try one more polishing on it. I have the aluminum parts of the firebox painted. The old paint was flaking, so I attempted to sand it smooth and ended up knocking down some of the rough surface. It looks better than it did by far. Today, I painted the bottom part of...

From Drab to Fab - Putting together a "How-To" Restoration Guide

I actually emailed Rustoleum in regards to using their paint on the inside of a grill. This is the response I received: Hi Scott, Thank you for contacting Rust-Oleum Product Support. Thank you for your interest in our Rust-oleum products. The Specialty High Heat Paint is intended for exterior...

Weber Genesis LX series vs regular

I can't imagine there is a major difference, if any, in quality. It's just going to come down to features. It will be up to you and your grilling needs to justify the added features and their respective cost. Personally, I used the side burner on my Genesis Silver C a total of two times in 13...
