    You can bring back maverick probes by placing the sensor part in a pan of veg. oil and warm it till the probe stops bubbles coming out where wire goes in. Not saying they will last a long time this way , but could use them as a backup.

    the ambient temp is just a thermister on one of the probe jacks, if you want it, it's not included in parts.

    when you have the homepage up, scrol down to bottom, configuration, and change probe types to TX something....can't remember exact at the moment, then hit save.

    I use a green scrubby thing with soapy water.....infact I clean it everytime I clean the meat probe.

    you say you have a probe installed, hope its in the pit probe jack, or fan won't work.

    Only time I have ever had an LCD screen freeze solid, was in Lake Superior with a windchill of minus 65 degrees F..........that was on a small boat so I doubt you'll have any problems using it for smoking. Don't think it will get that cold.

    I would also go back and hit everything with your soldering iron again, just reflow all contacts.
