ThermoWorks Black Friday deals are live - up to 50% off some items

So my One arrived this weekend. Was in CA for a beer party in Truckee so I just got into it tonight. Feels nice, looks nice. Appears like no more issues with battery compartments. I shall do some more research and report back. But so far looks like a solid piece.

I have the worst luck sometimes

Keep your chin up Larry. I feel your pain. From reading your posts I know you've been a mechanical guy for many years even professionally. As one myself I'm sure you know, sometimes stuff just goes wrong. At the shop every so often I'll go through a phase where everything I touch just goes to...

    Chicken Drumsticks

This is exactly the same thing I do and get great results everytime. I usually direct fire about half of them at the end as some people like that char while others do not.

ThermoWorks Black Friday deals are live - up to 50% off some items

I wanted another for the shop as I cook for the guys on Fridays a lot. With One being ten bones more than the classic, I went for it. Orange to match my toolbox. And in case you're wondering I keep a plain 22 kettle at the shop. Can't wait to try out the new pen. I have a couple classics and a...

You Wrap Gifts, I Wrap Brisket sweater

The new balance shoes and tall socks just kill me. If they were jean shorts he'd be wearing the unofficial official Corvette owners garb.

    - Central Texas Highs and Lows

I agree on burnt bean. It was fantastic. I've got to make it up to try the new terry blacks in Lockhart one of these days.

Welcome from way down on the coast. I've never tried a coffee rub on pork, I'll be very interested to see and hear the results.

    What's on tap/brew schedule?

Congratulations Ray! I always say those German lagers are the hardest to get right. Nothing to hide behind if you make a mistake. Well done.

Well, that's an interesting failure mode. [automotive]

I've seen some of the newer mirrors well over a thousand. That's what happens when you have heated glass, signal indicators, power telescoping and folding along with temp sensor and a camera. Oh and don't forget the price to have it painted to match and the single use panel retaining clips. Just...

    What's on tap/brew schedule?

Anne, Celebration is a fresh hop beer brewed for around the holidays every year by Sierra Nevada brewing. I'm sure they weren't the first, but I know it's the first fresh hop brew I had many many years ago.

    What's on tap/brew schedule?

Brew day went well. I had to reheat my strike water, not used to being below 85 down here! Will oxygenate and pitch 1l starter tonight. OG is 1.062. Should be working in the morning. Felt great to be out with my kit in the garage. Cheers y'all.

Has anyone done a PP Cuban style?

I've done it a couple times. Marinade sounds pretty similar to what your recipe shows. Lots of fresh citrus and fresh ground spices/onion. I believe I've done it both times on my pellet grill as we weren't looking for big smoke. Typical butt cook, cook until stall in a pan then cover with foil...

    What's on tap/brew schedule?

Sweet! They must have just got it in. I was there two weeks ago and it wasn't there so I figured I'd give it a try. Now I'll get to do a side by side. That's what I call research

    What's on tap/brew schedule?

Since I can't find it down here I'm brewing a clone of SN celebration tomorrow. Should be a nice brew day. Mid 50's expected. Anybody else mashing in this weekend?

    Ox Cheek??

A couple months back I tried to cook them following chuds video. Smoked for a few hours for color and flavor then slow cooker overnight. In the morning they were so rubbery they probably would have bounced off the floor. So I put them into the pressure cooker with some tallow and a little stock...

Possibly the last warm day of the foreseeable future?

As you guys up north are getting colder, we got our first day of non horrific weather in months. 65 today and about the same tomorrow. As much as I hate the humid summer, I wouldn't trade it for digging out all that snow. Y'all stay warm up there. Or come hang out, we have an awesome spare bedroom.

All this talk of garage springs and such... Doesn't anyone grill/bbq/smoke/cook anymore?

Way down here grilling/smoking season is just getting started for me. It happens year round but I don't really enjoy it until November. Night time temps are finally dipping into the 60s. I love love love Texas for the next five-ish months.
