The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

Oh, i thought you were referring to the Fan. So, the RJ45 keystone slot has been modified on the newest threaded version of the AD, and now pops in with no effort and stays in. it is now easily inserted by putting the fixed end in first, then popping the tabbed side in until it snaps in place...

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

Yeah, that was designed pretty tight. i sometimes have to scrape the inside corners of the case to get it started. Maybe I should design in some chamfers to aid in installation?

    7' Touchscreen Display

I have with a 5". I guess the cons would be exposure to the elements. https://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?71468-HM-with-integrated-LCD-Display&p=786237#post786237

    38 CFM Adapt-a-Damper

I printed this out. This thing is HUGE! I ordered a fan just in case I obtain a smoker in the future that's worthy of it. Awesome job, JLands. Thanks for keeping it open source.

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

I bought a Mill about 6 months ago that I'm slowly converting to CNC. Hopefully, I'll have an Aluminum (maybe stainless?) version of the Adapt-a-Damper before the end of the year. There are probably going to be some changes to make it CAM friendly. It will utilize the same Delta fan, but I may...

Off Topic - Build Mod for HM

I get a very pleasant amount of smoke, and it's a clean smoke, so I don't get the bitter smoke flavors. I've even tried putting the chunks in the chimney dispersed among the charcoal. Works well.

    Fake Servo Example

This was a worst case and this is why I order all my servos directly from Towerpro. I also just received some Vorpal MG90 servos that MartinB turned me on to. They are manufactured by Tower Pro for Vorpal, and are supposed to operate very well and have the same form factor. EDIT: I tried the...

    Fake Servo Example

I have recently gone through my stock of obviously counterfeit brand servos, and this one really stood out. I have no idea where I ordered it from, but it was some time ago. Because of this, I only order my MG90S servos directly from Tower Pro now. The one on the left is a genuine Tower Pro...

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

When I had my WSM 18", I used a DigiQ adapter. It has the deflector built in. I seldom had issues with burnouts, but as MartinB stated, it would occasionally indicate a drop in temp as a bit of the air bypassed the coals.

best smoker to use with heatermeter

I always had luck with my 18" WSM. I also have a Chargriller Akorn which works quite well with the HM. My go-to though is my home built insulated gravity feed cabinet smoker, but as JKalchik mentioned above, it was pretty pricey to build, but it keeps temps withing 0.5 Degrees with the...

    Thermocouple variation -defect?

That's still some frequent spikes. I get those maybe 1 an hour? My solution is to hit the refresh button and they go away. It's the same thing i do with my truck. When it makes a noise I can't figure out, I just turn my stereo up louder. I have a bigger stereo now.

    Thermocouple variation -defect?

Awesome news! I actually make my own thermocouples. It's an easy deal. Just have to have a way of welding the tips of the two wires together on K-Type wire. I have an old Jewelry spot welder I bought on ebay cheap as chips. And NO, I'm not selling them.

    Thermocouple variation -defect?

There's some interference somewhere. Have you tried on an isolated AC outlet? Grabbing at straws at this point.

Community 3D Printer / Assembly / Trading Resources

Good point, MartinB This is why I encourage anyone here to print and sell my design, so it's available to more people. I even posted the source files (Fusion360) so anyone can make changes to suit their needs. They're not going to make a living at it. I think we've already established that...

Here we go again .... as I've said time and time again, if you're so set on helping people out here on the forum, and state that you're not using the RD3 for capital gain, then wouldn't it be so much easier to post your files on a venue like Thingiverse? Everyone else here has posted files. Tom...
