    First pork butt cook with New Kingsford

    I have yet to try the new kingsford...I still have the "classic" variety...just had to crack into a 2-24# bag last night to do 2 butts. I mix it half with the new charwood lump (sparks a lot though) smelling real good right now... Aloha, Greg

    Wood Suggestions for Smoking BB Ribs

    I like to mix oak with most fruit woods. I use 50/50 mix. Not too much though. Been experimenting with the Jack Daniels charcoal pellets lately. Great aroma. I'm due for some spares soon. MMMM! Spares over spatchcocked chix

    Uses for old ash

    Clogs eventually but I rotate filters. Finally learned to wash filters with water and let dry as the instructions say instead of tapping the filter clean and bending the delicate seal. Oh yeah...do it the next day or so when you know the coals are out. Shop vac fires really suck! ; ) Greg

    I don't think age is as important with proper storage. I have some 10 year old guava wood which tastes the same as the 2 year old wood we use for the business. I do notice that it does turn more grey and faded as years pass but that might be due to the UV rays since it does get sun but no...

    I'm happy with the charwood from kingsford at wall mart tastes ok burn time is good but a tad sparky for high temp use so far for me. Aloha, Greg

    Ice Cream Mix-ins

    I have a healthy mix in. Put rice milk in my vanilla ice cream and mix until milk is a little frozen kinda like a malt. MMMM! Going to try some of your mix in. I think every meal should have dessert! Greg

    Wood Pellets

    The pellets I got are made from the charcoal used to filter the whiskey so I imagine they will last awhile. Smells like whiskey when burning. I like 'em. My pellets came in a plastic bag so I just dump it it loosly. Is there a better way? Greg
