    Vintage Grill?

The letter designation started in 1979 - no letter/year designation before that. Safe to say, if you don't see a letter - it's at least 30 years old. Nice find...

New 27" grill on Food Network "grilling" week

I was watching a grilling special on Food Network last night (it's grilling week) and saw Bobby Flay cooking on the new 27" OTG. He was cooking one style of jerk (dry rub) while his guest was cooking another style (wet rub). Anyways, Bobby was clearly cooking on the new 27" kettle and it...

    Flower Pot Smoker

Saw this recently on an episode of Good Eats... Alton built a smoker out of two flower pots that vaguely resembled a Kamado cooker. Bottom had a electric hot plate for a heat source. Just curious - I was at the Garden Center and was mix/matching pots to put one together, thought I'd check here...

    Performer or 26" kettle?

A second kettle is a cheaper alternative to the 26" that does give you more cooking area - 26 has 560 square inch cooking area vs. just under 800 for two 22's. Guess it really depends on what your needs are. If you find yourself cooking for 5 or 6 people on a regular basis - I'd say go for...

no ezque for the 26 for awhile

I was thinking about building one with aluminum flashing, but afraid it might be too flimsy. Have you built one previously George?

Is this a Weber or an imposter???

Haven't been able to scan, but I checked my 1969 Weber catalog and the smoky joe did have the offset handle just like the red one posted - functioning as both the handle and vent control. The legs in the catalog looked different though - maybe this is a 70's vintage?

Is this a Weber or an imposter???

Jeff, I'm pretty sure the red one is an old smoky joe. I a "1969" Weber catalog and I'm pretty sure it has a smoke joe with the handle off to the side like the one pictured - will check this evening. I'll try and get a scan of it up.

    Redesign of the 26" kettle

Hi Mike, I have yet to see the new 26" kettle in person. Was the original 26" kettle used as a blueprint and then improved upon, or is this a totally new design that only shares the 26.75" designation. Thanks.

I'll definitely wait and order from amazon once available, to give Chris benefit. I was just posting links to show that it was starting to become available.

    Pre-Order 26.5 Kettles???

I see that a number of places are taking pre-orders for the 22 WSM, but haven't seen the 26.5 kettle anywhere yet. Amazon, AbsoluteHome both have the 26.5 premium kettle cover available - but not the kettle itself. If anyone sees it please post.

    Work table

Anthony, I have the newer side table with the two legs on my 22" OTG. It's definitely larger than the older wooden side tables, but not as large as the performer work area. I'll measure it when I get home if you want the numbers. I really like it, plenty of room for a couple of plates. I'd...

    new 26.5 kettle

I wish either one of those greens was available in the states. I also noticed that they had the performer style therm in the lid - missing on the US OTG. Bill, a "Westerner" kettle with the longhorn on the side would be very cool - I think it was only available as a 26" kettle, maybe a...

    new 26.5 kettle

I agree, keep the 18 22 and 26. Retiring the 22 would be a huge mistake - it's the Weber icon. I believe that you'll see the 26" kettle discounted in the $299 range. That is still a premium over the $150 OTG - but if the OTG get's the same upgrades as the 26 kettle and WSM (heat shields...

    new 26.5 kettle

For $300 you could buy 10 smokey joes and give yourself more cooking surface than a ranch kettle. Seriously though, people have been wanting the 26 inch kettle to return for years... and Weber is bringing it back. Yes - $300 - $400 is a bit pricey, but at least it gives people the option of...

    new 26.5 kettle

I'm betting that you won't see the OTS or OTG designations with the new 26, instead it will be treated more along the lines of a specialty item (i.e. ranch-kettle, WSM). It's basically a 26" master-touch though.
