Hi Brad, The new 26" OTG grate is larger than the old 26" grate. In the old model, the grate sits down further in the bowl - which lessens the diameter. I have an old 26'r and my brother has the new 26" OTG - the new grill has about 1" greater diameter and will not sit on the tabs of the old...

Thought it'd be fun to start a thread on what everyone's weber/kettle "white whale" is. Personally, a vintage red 26" is at the top of my list. An old school tri-pod style ranch kettle would be my runner up. Of course, any barrel-b-q, ranger etc. would certainly be appreciated. So...

Was curious if anyone on this board had ever built a extra large Jumbo Joe by cutting down a 22" Weber. I have an extra 22" I was considering for this, but would appreciate photos/ideas from anyone that has already done this.

Anyone know if Weber has any plans to make this in the future? Has anyone created their own?

Really? I figured that the width added by the lid-holder/slide-aside would be a problem for the standard cover. I have a standard cover I'll try putting on it.

I recently picked up a red Weber master-touch kettle. Did Weber make a special cover for this grill? If so, does anyone know what the part number is? I haven't call Weber yet, but will probably do so. Thanks

If I had that 26 blue - pretty sure I'd keep it under wraps too. Not sure what I'll do with 2 26ers now.... Maybe start a BBQ catering business???

Ok, so I've seen the weber wood firepit now in stores - sporting nice looking wooden handles. Are we going to see these on the grill's/wsm's too..... or at least be able to purchase them??

Actually - I guess it makes a little sense. I'm sure the 18 and 22 cheaper prices are driven by volume. Even so, a replacement grate that is nearly half the price of the grill still seems a bit ridiculous.

That is a great question.... makes no sense whatsoever. At that rate of increase.... the ranch kettle grill replacement should be $600-$700. I have two older 26" grills and I believe the replacement grate for those was in the $70-$80 range - which still seem exceptionally high.

I picked up my 2nd 26" one-touch off craigslist today for - get this - $20. Definitely my best score to date. Thought I'd post my collection.... still haven't cleaned up the new(old)26" - it's in the foreground - pretty good shape with minimal rust - now I've got bookend 26ers...

I'm with George - can't a moderator do something about this kind of behavior? Joking aside - that 26" is very sharp - would be nice to see Weber offer the new 26" in blue (or any other color for that matter).

Jeff - I'm in awe of your 26" blue.

I think Weber has been thinning the gauge of the steel for years. I have a 22" OTG that's only a couple of years old, but gets weekly use. I also have an old metal handle 22" that has hardly been used. The older kettle lid feels 2 or 3 pounds heavier.... feels much more solid.

I'd guess lake 60's or early 70's. I have a 1968 or 69 Weber catalog and the grills had thumbscrews on the legs and rubber tires - like yours. The 18" and 22" were offered in 4 or 5 colors (at that time) while the 26" was only offered in three - two-tone brown, red and black. Each one had a...
