Not only was there an IPA Day, but the following day was international beer day! Oh yeah... Hey Clark...that Red Racer is AWESOME stuff. An awesome Canadian IPA. LOVE the cans too. Beautiful retro artwork on 'em as well. Tonight was fantastic. Had a couple limited release bottles from...

Man...did I ever get some great beer in the mail today. Some awesome stuff from New York. Brown's Whiskey Barrel Aged Porter, Three Heads Brewing "The Kind" IPA, and a growler of Birra DeCicco - Limone Luppolo. Nice little haul. Update: Day just got even better. Shortly after FedEx...

Just got back from a beer run. Drove from Philadelphia, PA...to Ithaca, NY for a case of Ithaca Brewing Co.'s Brute. 440 mi. round trip. :-p Take THAT! In the meantime, I'm enjoying an incredible offering from Bell's. Expedition Stout. Weighs in at 10.5% ABV...and you can scarcely...

where to hold butts until dinner?

LOL @ the cambro and the "faux cambro." Not to be confused with the South Park version of Rochambeaux. LOL

    Charcoal only griller

Quite frankly, if I wanted to cook with gas, I'd be in the kitchen ****ing around with the range and oven. The whole reason for being outside is to do things you can't do indoor. You know...get some sun...pitch some shoes...play with fire...torture the neighbors... And that's just for...

Got up this morning at 3 A.M. to prep a brisket and a pork butt. Got'em both on the grill at 4 A.M. Should be done about the same time this afternoon I'm guessing. Having a handful of buddies over this evening for a beer tasting/drinking and BBQ. Everyone's bringing a couple things. Going...

You're quite welcome. Monk's is an awesome place. I don't get down there NEARLY often enough, but that's mostly because I live in the burbs, and driving into the city to drink, isn't usually the best thing to do. LOL Fortunately for me, Capone's is a fraction of the distance (2 mi.) away...

Last night was a good evening for beer consumption. Split a growler of Ballast Point's Sculpin IPA with my friend Sean, then enjoyed a couple Union Jack IPA's by Firestone Walker, and a Dirty Bastard by Founders.

I think the metallic taste that some people experience is from drinking out of the can. What is a keg made out of ? </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Kegs are stainless, cans are mostly Al. However, I recently attended an annual MBAA technical seminar at Sierra Nevada brewery where they had a very detailed...

Well, does pouring a beer from a can to the glass suddenly alleviate the metallic taste? I see what you're saying about a keg...but beer from the keg and from the can, hardly seem to taste similar.

JS: That stuff you have by the Bruery, is next to impossible to find. As is their Black Tuesday & Chocolate Rain. I've been trying to appropriate bottles of each for forever.

Hey Brad. I LOVE Firestone Walker. I'm sitting on a couple bottles each of their Parabola, and Double Jack. I've also seen Lagunitas on the menu at Capone's, in a few varieties, but have yet to have any. It's on the list. Wonder if anyone on here is on Beer Advocate. I think some folks...

The only thing I remember about pony bottles is playing War in college with a deck of cards, and having to take a shot of Mickey's everytime you surrendered a card, and pounded a whole one when you actually lost a "war". And I'll be honest, I barely remember THAT. LOL

Well don't hesitate to talk to folks. You live in an area with some brilliant breweries. I'm sure you can find some Dogfish Head, but don't be afraid to ask your beer guy if he knows of a Bell's or Founders beer that is similar to one of the high ABV IPA's I mentioned. I'm all about...

I gotcha. :-p Usually, IPA's are one of the varieties that encompass the virtues of which you speak. Light in color, crisp, well hopped, and at times, quite strong. Perhaps Guy will chime in on this as well. I would recommend a Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA for the light yet strong fair. It's...

Pilsners are a bit outside my jurisdiction. I don't have much of a passion for them, so my exposure to them has been self limited. However, I had a fabulous pils made by the folks at Rogue. It twas a treat.
