i dont post many pics even though i am cooking all the time..... my food pales in comparison to what some of you all do. but here goes anyway.....
trying to dump my coals a little earlier.... this was todays.... im thinking they were in there a little longer than necessary....
first time...
i have been looking for an 18in on CL forever.... sadly we dont have the awesome deals that everyone else finds. i will keep my eye out though for one.
just wondering if it is worth taking for family outings... we go to the lake a lot in warmer months.....
but i would be cooking for 5-6 people. keeping it simple with burgers and dogs. i have a gas ga.... but think itd be silly taking both.
yup... definitely better when everyone is happy. i like a heavy smoke flavor.... but tone it down sometimes based on what the everyone likes/wants that day.
i might go with the brown sugar marinade...never thought to use something sweet with beef steaks.

I am sooooo disapointed in my self! (Hangs his head in shame.) I forgot the Parm. But on the bright side Olive Oil and seasoning. AWESOME...
looks good.... those are the same steaks that i have....
i was going to make them tonight but will try them with a marinade tomorrow. just dont know what to put on them that everyone will like..... i have my husband, teens, and two little ones to please.
and i loveee the little grill...
yup the parm really takes it over the top.....
when i broil it in the oven (you know those things IN the house!) i add finely chopped garlic to it.... on the grill it burns too quickly.
love asparagus.... i toss it in olive oil and throw in on direct for a bit.... if you like it softer then you can cook them indirect for a bit. i also like tossing a bit of shredded parmesan on them when they come off.
love, love , love asparagus!

i found some thin bottom round steak on sale and picked it up. would these work on the grill...... i dont want to end up with tough steak if it is not meant for a quick cook.
i have always how people reuse charcoal..... i didnt know how they did it. unfortunately, i cant because my bottom vents are rusted open. but good to know , now i can do that with my smokey joe.
i am going to start dumping them out ealier..... and if i feel i might be running out of heat, will throw a few on there.
yup.... i have the chimney starter down. i feel so silly for waiting so long to get one. i mean it is the best thing EVER! so much easier and better than the other...
thanks for the info.... i am going to have to play with dumping them earlier. i was waiting until i could see them redhot on top as well....
when i would dump them, they were considerably smaller and no black at all.
Richard, i have always banked them to one side. what i didnt do was...
Thanks Don.... you know i had checked that little tutorial out.... but i guess i just forgot about it having some dark coals on top.
i am definitely leaving them in the chimney too long. definitely. i will dump them a bit earlier next time... which with this gorgeous weather will be again...
