Do you have another computer you can test it on? At least temporarily? My suspicion is a systems problem. The simulation mode tests just about every feature. The only difference is networking. If anything hangs there, Stokerlog as retry mechanism that shows up in status line. If that is...

Other than trying a second computer, I would call them and let them figure out what is going on.

Thanks. Run it in simulation mode overnight without connecting to stoker. Let it run overnight. This would verify that everything other than network is operational.

So how does it fail again? Does it just hang? If so, what is the last thing it said? What does the Status area show?

Is that on Windows 8? If so is that the released version or RC?

That feature more or less is implemented in stokerlog 7. You get to set meat temps that when hit, will adjust the fire temp. Currently there are two triggers. I can add more if there is interest but this should be enough to at least test your idea :). Stokerlog also has a "keep warm" feature...

I have not tested it on Windows 8 at all. There could very well be problems there. Do let me know if Win 7 VM fixes things.

Bill, hit start->C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. See if there is a link to stokerlog there. If so, you can delete it and that will fix it starting every time. Are you saying that you can't uninstall from add/remove programs?

Thanks Darren. Do you have a virus checker or back up program running by chance? The error indicates some other program is getting access to one of the log files which stops stokerlog from accessing it. I can try to fix it but like to first figure out what is happening.

No work on it Steve. The only energy I could muster went to version 7 of stokerog :).

Congrats. You will really enjoy it. I bought mine at the same time as my stoker and have done countless overnight cooks. The concept of worrying about the fire dying in the middle of the night or overshooting is foreign to me :).

You should have checked to see if it was tender and if so, it was done. The other thing is that you can wrap in foil and put in the home oven to finish.

I can make that change but I really hate messing with setup :). I just checked and the entire install takes 1.7 megabytes. So it is really in the noise level as far as space it would take on your SSD.

That's good to know. It may have forced a re-install of .Net framework and that fixed something :).
