    Weber Genesis 3000? Restoration.

Simple answer is it works great on aluminum. So, it's my first time with the carbon off. 100% perfect for the lid because it's gentile on the finish (both sides). Aluminum can handle just about anything, mechanical or chemical though. But beyond that, I actually cleaned end caps once by...

    Weber Genesis 3000? Restoration.

Finally getting around to this red head I picked up for $30 last fall. Pretty solid example and a good restore candidate. Still in the process so more will come out in drips and drabs as I get time to work on it, but just about all of my replacement parts are here so can get after it now...

I will just leave this here

Well, that blue platinum i linked earlier today is marked as sold. Didn't take long. Maybe $150 was a fair price. I agree with Bruce that it's expensive, No money in it to flip, but as a new daily for someone, have at it. I should have went for it but stuck here screwing around with a wood...

See now I'm learning some things. Better than OEM.

Yes, you are totally right on the lids and your 0000 steel wool process worked great btw, I meant the cheap flavorizer bars they have with that gray coating on them. Should have been more specific!

I will just leave this here

I worked at a power plant construction site for a few years and that was my crash course in stainless steel. Learned everything from 409 to 304 and 316. And it only goes up from there into nickel alloys. Chromium and Nickel content make all the difference. Sadly I'm just an engineer and not...

I will just leave this here

I guess my question is where is the money in these? We're all fans of the largely similar and more resilient OG boxy Genesis/Spirit models. Do people like these ones just because they have that late model appearance? The rust is so common on the interior tank ring, just seems like a no brainer...

If I Was Going to Buy New

If I didn't just come across a genesis 3000 in amazing shape for way cheap that i'm bringing back to life, i'd have bought an MHP. Used one a few years ago and had no complaints. Good materials, and in the $1000 range give or take depending on model and options.

    Weber gas grill parts source.

Got it thanks. I may just leave these alone for now. I like the JHP route too but looks like they're out of 1-1/2" for now. Maybe I'll give the socket hex a trial on my old fixer upper that was never meant to be anything more than making it mechanically sound.

Bolts came in. Unfortunately heads are too small of a diameter. Would look goofy I think. Tough to get a pic that shows it well but pretty significant difference

    Weber genesis 4000 or 5000 ?

Do these lids respond to the same treatment you see for a car. Cutting and polishing compound?

Will do. I wish there was McMaster Prime with free shipping! I just did a parts shipment from them 2 days ago, ugh. 3/4 and 1-1/2 are the sizes to order (1-9/16 measured, you'll be fine). I have 2 grills, one spirit 700 that was beyond beat up and this garage kept 1000. Both never had any...

    Weber gas grill parts source.

Beginning to take apart a 1999 1000 (at least the serial on weber's site says 1000 but it has the side burner so assuming it's a 3000). That will be a first timer post for me shortly, but I was looking here for lid/handle bolt ideas and i didn't want to go the hex socket route I've seen but...

If I Was Going to Buy New

I was always a fan of the. MHP TJK stainless model. Aluminum cart more than anything. https://www.mhpgrills.com/grills/tjk/. If I didn't get the restore bug, that is the route I would go. Edit: since we all have a grand lying around :)
