    SmokeFire on Fire...

Hmm, while I no longer have a SmokeFire, I find that support absurd. I burned over 1000lbs of pellets through two SmokeFires never cleaned the auger, used drip trays and the only flameouts I had were pellet feed issues with the day one hopper and/or the finger guard. Only reason I don’t still...

    Kamado E6 - first cook

I use one of these, guessing Dan might have something similar. https://smokeware.com/collections/inside-your-grill/products/new-stainless-steel-drip-pan?variant=29741561413704

Thinking of getting a Kamado E6…

That seems like a pretty nice combo. Love the pic just above this reply too, you'll soon forget what a shiny new grill looks like

Summit Kamado Double grill grate suggestions

I’m using the same as GrantT when needed. Smokeware.com or someone else that sells BGE XL of Big Joe access might have more options.

    Summit Kamado grate height?

You modify the Big Joetisserie to fit in the WSCG/Kamado.

How many bags of charcoal have you burned so far in 2021?

I usually have a better idea, but haven't been counting as closely since I've had rather large stockpiles of fuel from various sales and nabbing all the Weber Charcoal I could find last year. I've only gone through 2-3 bags of charcoal, but have probably gone through 200+ pounds of pellets.

Picked up one of the new Travelers

Here it it ready for the trip home. I bougHt one of the travel bags so it didn’t get cars dirty since we don’t have a pickup.

Picked up one of the new Travelers

Still very happy with it, been using it several times this week actually. I usually choose pellets or charcoal over gas, but I have been very pleased every time I’ve used it. I’ve had no problems with flare ups in comparison to other gassers I’ve used. My in-laws hauled it up to the cabin we’re...

I think Weber messed up with the Smokefire

I think you’re intending sarcasm, but I’ll bite. While subjective I will say it is both true and it is not. Having had way too many pellet grills, I will say the MAK does put out great smoke for a pellet grill. However, the SmokeFire did just as well if not marginally more. Memphis also puts out...

I think Weber messed up with the Smokefire

But, Masterbuilt was the only game in that town. They would get a huge group following for curiosity, for all we know 90% might not even own one, they could have joined for exploratory purposes. Pellet grills aren’t new, tons of people aren’t going to join a private SmokeFire group to see how...

I think Weber messed up with the Smokefire

That‘s very cool, but Masterbuilt was the only game in town for how long? If you counted every pellet grill group up and compared that total it would probably be more representative of potential. I think there are Traeger groups far larger than 17,000. Edit: Just searched and in first four...

I think Weber messed up with the Smokefire

Actually, grills and smokers is one of the industries that still has a lot of American competition making quality products. It’s just that affordable is subjective. A lot of them cost 2-3 times the imported stuff, but easily last 2-3 times longer. I think a lot of these companies are doing very...

I think Weber messed up with the Smokefire

I think they screwed up with the SmokeFire too, but not because it burns pellets. I think they screwed up because they still are still mediocre at best at software development and obviously didn’t do anywhere near the QA they claimed they did before release as a lot of early issues were...

    CEO Letter

I think that only existed as a post on the Weber site, never signed. I don’t think anything was ever emailed nor delivered via USPS. Are you trying to return your and getting grief?

    Summit Kamado grate height?

I haven’t been talking about Weber’s charcoal baskets at all. I’m talking about the charcoal basket from snsgrills.com. It’s a baby Slow N Sear. You could use it for reverse sear just like a regular SnS. You wouldn’t be as tight for airflow, but should work fine. IMO, reverse sear is a little...

    Summit Kamado grate height?

Kamado mode is with fuel at the bottom and using a diffuser plate. Like a BGE or Kamado Joe would run. Many people will argue that there’s zero need for a SnS on a Weber Kamado or WSCG, because it’s already designed to be a smoker in this fashion. I was lucky enough to find a SnS low profile for...

    Summit Kamado grate height?

The SnS charcoal basket fits in the WSCG and is designed similar to the SnS. The SnS low profile is convenient, but really not a necessity for the WSCG with Kamado mode, but I do feel like I get a little more consistent smoke results because I throw chunks on top after grill is at temp and while...

    Damn you Bruno

If they nailed down the firmware with that release in March/April you will really like it. I loved the SmokeFire whenever it was in a good mood. It‘s so close to being one of the best grills on the market for convenience and results. I didn’t miss a gasser at all when I had it.
