    1998 Platinum "resto"

Dean, the following grates are 3/8 grates sold by RCPlanebuyer on ebay or craigslist that are widely considered the best-at least until you finish yours. I think the spacing on these are 3/8, which is about right. If anything, I would increase the spacing of these 1/16th or 1/8th, but wouldn't...

Genesis 2000 Rehab-When Enough is Way too Much

That's a reprint on label paper using the template I found here. I stuck some shipping tape over the top. No idea whether it will yellow or bleed.

Genesis 2000 Rehab-When Enough is Way too Much

It was nice....but I sold it.:( Sold for what I had in it - $325, think I cleared $10.00 but probably didn't account for some cleaning supplies etc. That's OK, it's more about saving a grill and having something to do than for me having a grill. If I had kept it, it would never get used...

    Silver B Fire Box Bumps

Can't really see anything in the picture. It could just be warped from high heat, but I haven't seen that as "bumps" before. Sure shhouldn't be a problem to cook on. You mean you painted the exterior and not the interior, right?

Genesis 2000 Rehab-When Enough is Way too Much

Dave, I mostly used a wire brush on a drill for the firebox, and a liTtle oven cleaner and wire brushes and everything else I had handy. Used the sander on my multi tool on the part of the box above the grates and it did a pretty nice job. But it seemed neverending. I must have told myself 5...

Genesis 2000 Rehab-When Enough is Way too Much

Finished the grill up. Went with a clean wood look. Considering that I am a very poor-to-mediocre spray painter and woodworker (especially with wind and temps in Oklahoma), I think it turned out pretty nice. Heck, I may even cook on it someday! Thanks for all your help. Look forward to...

Genesis 2000 Rehab-When Enough is Way too Much

Bill, there was some rust on the inside of the scale, but not too much. I wire bushed it as much as I could and sprayed it with some rust encapsulater and paint as I could reach. My local cheapo tool store has brass bottle brushes for a buck or two that are really good for that kind of stuff.

Genesis 2000 Rehab-When Enough is Way too Much

What about wood? My 2000 rehab is coming along, but am wondering what everyone's preferences are about wood...... Knots or no knots??? I think I like some-more rustic and maybe hand crafted feeling. Unfortunately, I don't have much of a woodshop..:) A few pics of progress. The handle came...

Only Because they are 8 Hours Away Some current and typical black Oklahoma offerings (maybe not real typical, since they look somewhat clean): Columbia MO: My wife stresses out enough when I drive across town to buy something. She would require hospitalization if I went that far...:)

Genesis 2000 Rehab-When Enough is Way too Much

You all saw my other post asking about knobs and wheels on the 1995 2000 I recently acquired. I'll use this post to document (scientifically!:') the completion. Here's a few picks as received. Nothing really remarkable, just an old dirty grill: I'm really not a big gasser guy,but do...

Hard to believe all the older grills you guys are finding.

I'm near Ok City. Save me one, I'll be down there sometime! I would guess some german ancestry, but don't know any details. My grandfather was born in Kansas in 1892 as "Wilhelm" but went by William by the time I was around.

Hard to believe all the older grills you guys are finding.

Anything with wood is a rarity in Oklahoma. And it seems like people want $100 for a trashed out B or C. What I would like to find here is any kind of redhead, or blue, or whatever. They are nowhere to be found here, I've seen maybe 2 or 3 in the last seven years. Like others, lots of...

    Another Skyline!

This isn't one of the "got it for free and it's almost perfect" deals, almost passed on it, but it was deservedly cheap. Condiment tray is there, but starting to pit. What's the treatment for that? Rust encapsulator or POR?? Don't know if the grates are usable, but surprisingly it has...

Older Genesis Rehab Details-Knobs and Wheels

Another question for the pros.... Is it possible to disassemble/reassemble the tank scale? Not sure how to deal with however it's riveted together. I'd rather keep the old type scale, but it could use a good cleaning/repaint. Doable? Thanks. Ralph
