It's black, it's metal, just not a kettle

...well Dave I looked at both over a fairly long period of time. From my own observations there is a noticable difference in the build quality, fastners, insulation, cast grate thickness, firebox and to some extent the design. Having said all of that the Akorn is considerably cheaper and well...

    Weber Defect Question

I have a lid for my 26 that was re-done, I bought a NIB 26 and a chunk of porcelain was missing. They replaced the lid under warranty after a rather long delay. I could see where a dent had been repaired and somehow re-surfaced. Phil's explanation sounds like what was done to my replacement lid.

Rotisserie vs. the Performer does it fit?

Pete said it best Rich, one of the best accessories you can buy. When I sold my 22 and the rotisserie I had a custom ring made for my 26 I liked the roti that much. Now C/B makes one. The tighter fitting new model would give better air control for LNS.

Yes Jak, alcohol was a factor in the cooking of this turkey!

It's black, it's metal, just not a kettle

Thanks Enrico, yes I took some carving pics just did not post them. The white and dark meat were very moist. Juices from the dark meat were on the plate. Let me say if you have never injected turkey drums and wings you don't know what you're missing. The juices simmer tenderizing and...

It's black, it's metal, just not a kettle

Thanks Dave, it's better suited to the colder weather but there is no grill like the 26. :)

It's black, it's metal, just not a kettle

Showing a little skin. I tried a 12 pound turkey in the Keg yesterday, decided to go for HH, vertical roast. The grate temps using the Maverick were 350. The dome temp was 390. I injected the bird with Creole Butter, rubbed with o/o and Montreal Chicken seasoning. I knew the breast would...

New 26.75in owner, first mod down

Glad it helped you. I like what you have done. You will never regret owning a 26 that's for sure. It's a really great smoker too Jimmy. The big advantage for me is the ability to cook indirect and not need a diffuser. Don't forget the front handle. :)

    Cast Iron Pan Restoration

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Antique-Findlay-cast-iron-skillets-pans-3-skillets-8-5-3-/221229688394 These were made in Canada. The foundry was established back in the 1800's. I'm not very familiar with most of the US brands. I have several Lodge pieces and while I like them there is no comparison...

Thanks Stephen. It's made by BBQ Guru and called an insulated jacket. The have them for the 18 and the 22.

    Recommended Mods to improve sealing

In addition to the above you might like to use the search mode on this site for Nomex gasket. I have used it on both of my 18's and have it under the lid of my 26" kettle. BBQ Gaskets.com, Justin, has serviced a number of us on this site. It does make a considerable difference. I think it's...

    Cast Iron Pan Restoration

I have a Findlay 6" pan with cast of the same quality. I wish I had more. The difference between old and new cast iron formulas is night and day. Your pan looks awesome. Great Job.

Those really look good by comparison Don.

Smaller ring for the 22.5" WSM

Tim, that basket will be fine. I made one along the same lines using expanded mesh. It now works in my 18 but at the time I had the 22 and was looking to create more height and less diameter for the same reasons.

Solution of Wobbly Legs on the 26

I agree Brad. I think it was more the ease of ordering the kit, something pre-existing. As Steve Porter points out it does offer the opportunity for side shelves. It does need a front lid handle though.
