    Peri-Peri Sauce

Soooo glad peri-peri sauce is becoming popular in America. Nando's originates from South Africa and one of it's founders is Portuguese. I spent a lot of time in Lisbon. I think the best recipes come from Portugal. If you want to make piri-piri (which is how they spell in in Portugal), google...

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

Here is closeup of my black Gold C. Whether it originally came with 5 or 13 bars, I don’t know. 13 fit in it now. I must have gotten the 13 from donor grills if it didn’t originally come with them. This was my first gas Weber ever, and first refurb in 2016. Didn’t know much then and not enough...

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

I will take more closeup pics when I get home next week. Here is wide shot. The black Genesis Gold on right is my primary grill, acquired and restored around 2016. The model/serial # was faded but still visible back then (so I was able to find the correct burners), but unfortanately I didn’t...

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

5 (and has smoker box). I’m not home otherwise I’d post more pics for ya’ll. The firebox dimensions look same as my Gold C which has same beefy Summit frame but has 13 bars. What is the difference functionally?

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

Thanks everyone for your input, and to @DanHoo and @Ed Pinnell for steering me away from the rusted burgundy Platinum II. I ended up with this green one that Dan recommended, much much better shape (hope to get this restored before year end):

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

That is super generous of you! You already did enough by steering me away from the rusty maroon Plat II. My nephew is on his way back from Folsom right now with the green Platinum II. He says frame is solid and intact. If I find myself in Folsom soon, I will ping you and take you up on your offer.

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

Hi Ed, that’s a good question. I am familiar with the Platinum II series like the one Jeff Ma has. What is Series I?

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

Dan, thanks for the gesture. I am following up on the green Plat II C from Folsom^^. If it checks out, I’ll have my hands on it today. I hunted for one like this years ago, but only managed to find (and restore) a Genesis Gold C with the big Summit frame. The Gold C has been a great and trusty...

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

Several years ago, reading threads like Jeff’s was what made me decide to locate a Gen Plat to restore myself. I still have that grill, the big frame is built like a tank. But none of the threads I’ve read seem to address repair of big gaping holes like the ones I’m seeing on this maroon plat...

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

Wow…that seems extra fussy compared to the porcelain lids.

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

Thanks Dan. I’ll check out the green plat c. About the SS lid, I’ve never owned a stainless steel Weber lid. I am restoring a SS Genesis Gold for my neighbor and found that there is an inner liner that is rusting out. What is the purpose of the liner? My porcelain lids didn’t have this extra...

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

I found this Genesis Platinum for $50. I want to restore it for my buddy (his grill lacks side burner and he sets a cast iron pan directly on his wobbly flavorizer bars -and scorches his knuckles- to fry up chicken). Previously, I’ve dealt with 2 Genesis Platinums that had surface rust on the...

That’s a good idea, will do that next time. For now, I am getting a replacement from another member in this forum. This community has saved me many times.

    Sideburner Valve Broken- Need replacement

Hi Dan, sorry about that, model specs would be helpful. I edited original post with model #’s, here it is again: Model #2260000/Part #3290001 The valve on left is from the donor, on the right is my broken one.

    Sideburner Valve Broken- Need replacement

I broke the collar on the sideburner valve on my Genesis (model #2260000/part #3290001). This valve assembly is evidently discontinued. Other posts in this forum suggest locating an old grill and cannibalize the part. I’ve done that. However, the donor grill can still be restored, just needs...

    Hello from Berkeley

I host photos on Google Photos. It d/n create a "bulletin board" embed code like Flickr does, but I finally figured it out (w/o having to move all my photos to Flickr/Photobucket/Imgur etc)

    Hello from Berkeley

Hi Everyone, I'm an accidental Weber fan. Three years ago, my kids and I searched for a "stainless steel" cart on Craigslist so that we can use it for a lemonade stand. We stumbled across a $35 gen 1 Weber Performer with gas-assist. We all wondered, "What is that thing? Could we repurpose as...
