    Griddle Top Restoration & Smoothing

That's my motto. I smoothed mine before the sides got welded on. That being said, I don't know what you are working with. I have two griddles. One is just a 1/4" stainless plate that takes up just more than half the grill space on the Genesis grill. No sides on that one, just a flat plate...

Don't think so. The very early ones had the igniter button only. No surround white plastic. As far as i know, the early ones had three slats. Never saw a two slat... Gerry

I count three unless you mean the slats on the bottom. The real early ones had four slats, two on each side of that bottom bar. They quickly moved to eight slats. four on each side of that bottom bar. https://tvwbb.com/threads/restoration-projects-1992-genesis-1-and-late-80s-genesis-2.76238/...

Well Yes and no. That's a restoration I did where I copied the frame in stainless steel. It is, however an example of the earliest Genesis grills https://tvwbb.com/threads/restoration-projects-1992-genesis-1-and-late-80s-genesis-2.76238/

I don't have any documentation to prove otherwise but the one my wife bought had the flip up table. It certainly had the thermometer. Now I have to look up some old pics. I know (I think) we had the Genesis one at our wedding in 1992ish?...

Wide whitewalls, no casters, condiment rack. Looks like the one my wife bought me in the early '90s. Missing the flip up table... Gerry

You won't see many of those. That was very early in the production cycle. (They were the best!):) you can see the early model here: https://tvwbb.com/threads/1987-barbeque-the-weber-tradition-4012101.85773/ Gerry

That is a very early Genesis grill and it is in great condition from what I see. WOW!!! I have two old ones like that that I have modified. I can't see where it's located, but if i was close, I would be all over it!! ETA: Oh, I see it's not for sale. Gerry

Whoops! Anyone else ever do this?

I left the grill on WITH the chicken once. Had lots of appetizers and friends around. When we remembered the chicken, it was too late to get even the tiniest bit of meat off it. Gerry
