    Genesis Platinum C

I think so, you'll have the best of both worlds. Bruce did it but had to do some mods but it turned out great. Snag that free grill! https://tvwbb.com/threads/weber-unicorn-alert-ss-platinum-conversion-from-shallow-to-deep-box.88177/

***Weber Unicorn Alert*** SS Platinum Conversion from Shallow to Deep Box

Alex, even if you don't put in a deep box in the platinum I'd still take it at that price (maybe try to offer a little lower)....it's still an excellent grill even with the stock firebox.

We just bought an air fryer - do you have one?

We've had ours for a long time now and use it almost daily....very convenient.

Genny Plat for $50- restoration money pit???

Yup, I did but kept it. Here's the thread on it... https://tvwbb.com/threads/first-grill-for-2019.76370/ See post #54 for the completed grill.

Yay or Nay on this Platinum C?

Yes, very worth it. You can always convert it into an open cart if the cabinet rusting out (which most of the time it is).

Genesis II - Should I run a pipe for natural gas?

Yup Hank Hill would probably be disappointed if you did switch to NG . All jokes aside, if I did have a choice now I would go with NG instead of LP. I did save some NG manifolds for my grills because I know I will make the switch sometime in the future.

I Found my Tribe; I'm a Grill Restorer

Welcome to the family Will! It sounds like you've found your way home. You can never have too many grills ! I personally like the older grills myself like the Genesis 1000-5000 series or the Silvers/Golds/Platinums. I also prefer the EW layout as opposed to NS because I like to do roti cooking.

Is buying direct from Weber the best option? (new 26”)

So far so good, I buy lots of stuff from Amazon so it was a no brainer for me.

Is buying direct from Weber the best option? (new 26”)

Not sure if it's better but I bought mine from Amazon only because I get 5% back with the Prime card.

***Weber Unicorn Alert*** SS Platinum Conversion from Shallow to Deep Box

Nice mod Bruce! I want to say you went down the rabbit hole and came out with a rabbit! I'm just going to keep mine with the 5 bar box since I already have a Platinum (01) with the 13 bar box.

Shoot, oh well....thanks Rich for going more depth into this and finally getting an answer. At least now we know. Bruce, hoping your son could come up with something.

    Any 'MEATHEAD" fans here?

Yup, I have his book and learned a lot. He's a member of this forum also. Here's a post where he responded.... https://tvwbb.com/threads/good-read-on-various-grill-grates.84928/

    Got some toys!

Rich you are one lucky dude. I was wondering, since you're close to Dave's shop, if you could ask him if he could fabricate the drip tray pan (part no. Weber 40968012) for the the Genesis 1000-5000 series...? Replacements are really hard to come by now and if he could make one out of SS then...

Genesis Silver B/C series vs the x000 models - difference in performance?

I have both and use the Platinum C as my daily driver and Platinum 13 bar for roto cooking. As other people have stated, the B/C does get up to temp. a little faster but performance wise they are about the same.
