    Getting a Baratza Virtuoso+

IMNSHO, that's not stupid, that's malicious. Anything more I'd say would probably run counter to Terms of Service here. All of the Costco outlets here seem to have the grinders between the food court and the Automotive desk. So far, I think they all still have the grinders in place.

    Buttermilk baking powder biscuits

Posted here, but rather versatile. Cribbed heavily from The Yellow Farmhouse Cookbook by Christopher Kimball, published by America's Test Kitchen. These are not drop biscuits, these are formed. 2 cups all purpose flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking soda 2 tsp baking powder 4 tbsp butter...

    Getting a Baratza Virtuoso+

I put it a little different. I have low expectations, and they're still not met.

    Getting a Baratza Virtuoso+

I'm honestly not sure if I'd be impressed, or completely horrified. Then again, I have no idea how somebody could make the mental leap to grinding chocolate in a burr grinder. Whole cacao beans, maybe, but not chocolate. A warm Simple Green solution should take care of dissolving sugars &...

    For you welders out there.

Just for the record..... I have 2 welders out in the garage. An absolute monster Miller 200 tap based transformer MIG process welder that's at least 30 years old. I can get replacement parts for practically everything except for the wire feed motors which have apparently never failed anywhere...

    For you welders out there.

Interesting review. He does pretty well highlight the "right, fast, cheap, pick 2" sort of thing. The economy machines do appear to have significant consistency issues with wire feeds, and the range of power delivery. I'm sort of surprised that he didn't test anything from Miller/Hobart...

    Weber and Blackstone to merge

Repeating this louder, for the folks in the back. ALWAYS..... keep business & personal devices separate. There is no upside to ever accessing your personal stuff on a work device.

    Old Phone

Man, I don't just what's happened recently....... this thing has been blocking 2 or 3 calls a DAY for the last week, weekends included. Needless to say, I'm rather pleased with it at the moment.

    Gene Hackman - RIP

Last report I read would seem to indicate something else. :( She was found in a bathroom with a space heater, a spilled bottle of prescription meds and partially decomposed/mummified feet. It was being treated as being more suspicious.

My g/f & I have that on embroidered polo shirts. I think that the graphic was actually developed by T-shirt folks who used to have a shop in the Chicago area. Now available via Etsy apparently.

Why I Returned The Anova Precision Chamber Vacuum Sealer

Those are both bag/roll sealers. @Chris Allingham review was on a chamber sealer. Both styles are highly useful, but are used rather differently.

Why I Returned The Anova Precision Chamber Vacuum Sealer

Caveat: I don't have any Anova products, nor will I ever buy anything FoodSaver branded ever again (those shouldn't be discussed here.) I have a funny feeling that the Anova chamber sealer is not drawing down a hard enough vacuum prior to sealing. The potential of a poor hinge design...

    Infused Olive Oil

We have a few infused olive oils in the cupboard as well as a few flavored balsamic vinegars, including a straight 18 year old balsamic. All have different purposes. For example, Basmati rice with a little onion & mushroom is wonderful when starting with butter and the sage mushroom olive oil.

    The Humor Thread

If this strikes your fancy, may I politely suggest: https://www.amazon.com/Flattened-Fauna-Revised-Animals-Highways/dp/1580087558/?tag=tvwb-20 I got acquainted with this tome some 35 years ago, it was written by a relative of an lighting engineer I supported. He wrote it on a lark, figuring...

    Old Phone

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0735QBGCL?tag=tvwb-20 At least, I think that's the way it works. Short story is that it just plain works for us.

    Old Phone

CallerID, by far, IMO. "Do I know you, or wanna talk to you? Na......." I picked up a POTS phone system for the land line a few years ago. If CallerID works, and you're in the directory, your call rings through. If CallerID works, not in the directory, you get asked to record your name and...

    Flooring over concrete.

BOTH rebar and fiber? Sounds like a bit of overkill, but I sure wouldn't complain about it either.

    Flooring over concrete.

Re: fiberglass. It's a choice between rebar & fiber. I suspect there's a bit of a load concern, but your garage will be lightly loaded. Dad's storage shed (about 40'x70') was poured with fiber reinforcing, and it's held up just fine to ag equipment. The original shop was poured in 1967 with 3...

    New Television

And you were stylin'! We have a 10 year old (or more) 55" 4k Vizio, a very early 4k model. I could probably mount an 80-85" display if I rearrange things, but our viewing distance is only about 12' max. At least for the moment, I don't have any real reason to replace it as it's working pretty...
