I'm liking the gates idea the more i think about it.

    Handles mod. Why?

The vertical handles help me transition from holding a beer mug to the wsm handles more easily.

Table or Cart for the Kettle

That is a awesome set up you've got. I'm putting mine on my deck and I want to be able to take it with me when we move. I am not a carpenter and proved that recently when I built a pergola on my deck.

    Handles mod. Why?

Oh, I thought you already had that power. I don't use mine too often because of the nose bleeds. Did you go to the Ballwin bbq comp last fall and have you heard about the new St. Louis BBQ Society?

Table or Cart for the Kettle

Yes, I have seen that work table but I'm looking to enclose the kettle and maybe the wsm in one unit (create a magical weber grill/smoke station). I need to keep little hands off of them when their hot. I was thinking of making a BGE type cart but enclosed with a flip up top so i could just set...

    Handles mod. Why?

I put mine on vertically because it took 5 seconds and I didn't want risk destroying my new wsm. I think they look great and I can't imagine ever not having them.

    Handles mod. Why?

How many handles are you putting on? If you use 2 vertical handles (garage door style) then you still have 4 more screw holes to use for eyelets.

    Handles mod. Why?

Basically, yes. Except I wouldn't use an eyelet to hold a handle.

    Handles mod. Why?

You're not using the handles throughout the cook. They make it easy to add or remove the body from the bottom section before and after the cook. I have only had to remove the body during a 14+ hour cooks to add more lit coals. Since the smoker was losing heat the handles were not that hot. Plus...

    Handles mod. Why?

Yes, I put them on 180 degrees from each other. I recommend this way. If you put both on one side you could risk damage when lifting it during a cook full of food. You could also put 4 handles on it if you're concerned about how it will look. Of course, it you plan to use any type of eyelet for...

    Handles mod. Why?

Here's 2 pics of the handles I added. There is one on each side.

    Handles mod. Why?

Sure. Let me see what I have in photobucket and if I don't have any pics there I'll take some tonight.

    Handles mod. Why?

I drilled no holes in either the wsm or the handles. they should fit perfectly over the bracket holes. Make sure you place the black spacers for the bolts between the cooker and the handle.

Making a "gas assist" Chimney starter?

I leave it on for 1-2 minutes at the most and then set the chimney in the charcoal grill.
