I got a brand new pair of roller skates, you got a brand new key

I had the pleasure to have seen her in concert twice. Great voice and stage presence. Never disappointed. Although the fire marshal at the first show must have been freaking out when 3-4,000 people lit candles or flicked their bics when she started candles in the rain. Another one gone too...

Clothes washing machines - any reccos of new machines and manufacturer experiences?

Back in RI we had a valve on the exhaust vent hose that would redirect the dryer exhaust into a water filled container to add humidity in the winter. In the summer we would change the valve to exhaust to the outside. Worked great as long as you remembered to clean it after use and refill the...

    House furnishings/appliances question.

A vented rangehood that actually has enough cfm to do the job. We've had 3 since we moved west and at best they are barely adequate. My parents house built in 1954 had a through the wall fan with a beaded chain to open and close it. Was loud, but very effective at exhausting cooking biproducts.

Clothes washing machines - any reccos of new machines and manufacturer experiences?

We haven't been in the market in the last 16 years. We have a matching front loader Whirlpool washer and dryer. Dryer has steam assist touch up. They probably run 3 to 4 loads a week. Washer only has had one repair (DIY) a water level senor died, but was easy to replace. LP gas Dryer just...

    Weber Flame - Vegas

I keep looking at this one for our son's house. Only change I would need to make is to add a whip hose so he could use it with his LP house supply. It has been on the market for quite some time and the price has been coming down. I have an NG version and the aftermarket cover.

    Replacing a garage door opener

I'm not big into apps. I prefer the KISS method. Only 8 ft ceiling and straight replacement of existing opener. No wifi, no battery backup and side mounting would have been an issue since there is little space on one side and of course no power anywhere near it. Our son has two Chamberlain...

    Replacing a garage door opener

I ended up with a Genie belt drive from an authorized dealer. I wasn't going to DIY at my age. The tech was great. He was amazed that the unit had lasted so long. I had replaced the door itself about ten years ago with an insulated metal door. He said that the Genie model I had wasn't...

    Replacing a garage door opener

Well, my 27 year old Genie screw drive opener started hanging up yesterday. I've had Genie openers at two houses for more than 40 years and never had a glitch. Don't need wifi or battery backup, but the big debate is belt or chain drive with the new ones. They are not making the screw...

    Winter grillers

We do, but had a first last night after 17 years here. Temps in the 40's, but wind actually blew out the 3 burners on full tile in pre-heat. Caused a delay i getting our steaks grilled. After relight, highest temp was 500 degrees. Steaks came out good with the help of my Thermopen One.

    Christmas movies

Christmas Vacation, Bad Santa, It's a Wonderful Live. Just saw a CNN show from 2022 about Christmas movies. Who knew so many were remakes!

Just Saw We Lost Another GOAT

He sure was good with a Duncan YoYo! He ended up with the YoYo Man title. Heck, I had trouble getting beyond "walking the dog"! His younger brother Dick did play a good role as a Nevada politician in the movie Casino.

And you wonder why the cost of going to a ballgame is so expensive.

Need to pay some of that scratch to Chapman to get him to stay. Jays need some reliable pitching beyond the starters!

Stainless Steel Grate Throwdown Challenge Results

Figured this as good of a place as any. Anyone have an email address for Dave Santana (aka rcairplanebuyer). He posted some things on ebay earlier and suggested going through the forum instead of Ebay . He's just posted grates that I have wanted for years but rather not see him get gouged...

TVWBB Tailgate @ Oakland Coliseum, A's vs. Orioles

I am just old enough to have seen the A's in Boston from 3 different cities. Thought the elephant thing was kind of weird. Never really bonded with the Red Sox who always lost when we went to games. Became an expansion team follower with the Angels with the halo hats until Tony C. got...

Need some help from the Gas guru's on this forum.

Hi JeffG: Our family has two 2007 Genny's online. Yes the tack welds for the heat shield tend to let go after about a decade! Mine in NG and our son's in LP hooked to his house propane tank so the shield is not a big deal for us. Cleaning the drip tray is a chore for sure. I put the tray...

In-N-Out Burger 75th Anniversary Festival at Pomona Dragstrip

Darryl: If you ever get down to the metro Boston area, there is a place in Saugus and Revere Beach that blows Arby's out of the water. It is Kelly's Roast Beef and a must stop for us when we get back East. Good onion rings too.
