I'm sorry but I can't agree with you. It's a pellet grill, they all have fans unless you know one I've never looked at. We're talking about a live fire oven here. It can't be absolutely safe, those hot thingys inside can burn your hand or forearm if you touch them. Will it be better than...

It's a pellet grill so it has a fan. If it's the same fan as the Smokefire has then it will be strong enough. Their teases have me very very interested.

.Me too Bruno. If I like the design I'll be on my knees with the boss.

    EX6 - Not loving it

And noone should be offended. The Smokefire has it's warts. Some don't have many and some have a lot. Our grills are different. I don't and never worked for Weber but seeing the redesigns in the Stealth and Sear+ Weber knows it has warts. If they ever get the open cook chamber design right...

Some of these grills will burn any brand of pellets without oa problem. Other grills are picky eaters. We, each, have to find what works for our grills. Mine will burn any brand but I go with the smaller diameter Cabelas to minimize the risk of bridging. Enjoy.

Make sure to secure your cover when it's nasty out.

Covers can be a blessing or a curse. My WSM grew mold under the cover and my son's ReccTed 300 did the same and corroded the motherboard. He had to replace that. I don't think that will happen to the Smokefire because the boards are waterproofed.

    What's cooking this weekend?

Don’t sweat it. We talk a lot about things other than what the forum name says. Yours is no different than the others. Good cook.

You're right. We don't have to sit and baby the Smokefire but there's so much disinformation out there that folks considering one are leery. I'm starting to think that Jon Tofte was right when he said the change of name might be a marketing move to get away from the Smokefire name. If they...

Smart move. Once Weber announces it, we should learn a lot more. My interest has gone up over the last month.

Great analogy. Like you, I love my Gen1 EX6 even with it's warts. I did modify the hopper before I put pellets in it and I shouldn't have had to but Bruno and the others had me sensitized to the problem. I'm fine with the pellet hopper. One thing about the side pellet hopper that I, and many...

Jon, I think you're right about the Genesis like setup. My son owned a Genesis and he agrees with you. I'm liking the Searwood more.

I don't know anything about gas grills so maybe I just assumed what I saw was a conventional drip tray. I assumed that their grease management was similar to Recteq but all internal. That's an excellent point. I guess we'll know when they release it.

It's a conventional design pellet grill with the big drip pan and a side hopper. I'm betting that they stay with the Weber Connect software so that will be the same as a Smokefire. The design eliminates the flavorizer bar brackets and the interior pellet slide. Those were the most prone to...

Weber Smokefire: Great Grill - Still Learning

After using many brands successfully I settled on Cabelas. They’re made by Lumberjack in the the same factory where they make Weber pellets.

    Fingers Crossed on Decent Weather

Some people use half sheet baking pans. I use foil pans that are about half the height of standard pans. I found them at Publix Supermarket.

I used water pans in my RecTec, Camp Chef, and Smokefire. It adds moisture and collects the grease in the Smokefire.

The water pan is a personal preference thing and doesn't throw anything for a loop. That's like saying don't cook on high humidity days. Just silly. I always put water in the drip pan for Butts and they always cook fine.

Weber Smokefire: Great Grill - Still Learning

Welcome to the Forum and congrats on the EX6. I've been running one for 40 months and not giving it up. Did you remove the finger guard from the pellet hopper?
