    Old HM Case

I was able to fit a Pi 3A+ into the case at the top so it's working again just fine! That said, I also just built a HM4.3 but kind of regretting the 2 line display. Anyone have a HM 4.3 case for 4 line? If not, I might be able to just print a bump out on top and keep the existing case as a base.

    Raspi 3A+ on a HM 4.0

Bingo! That appears to have done it. 3 successful boots in a row. Now we'll see how long it runs.

    Raspi 3A+ on a HM 4.0

Just making sure I understand. It's been quite a while since I built this, but I used to use 2 single row pin headers, If so, I might just be able to snip the end off and desolder just that one pin.

    Raspi 3A+ on a HM 4.0

Thanks sir, glad I asked, I saw the ICSP there on the board layout.

    Raspi 3A+ on a HM 4.0

Thanks Bryan, I'll take it back apart and give it a shot. Just so I'm clear, that is pin 7 on the pi connector?

    Old HM Case

Thanks, I had it too and reached out, he looked but said the only thing he could find was in a format that he couldn't open anymore.

    Raspi 3A+ on a HM 4.0

Thanks all, FYI, the 3A+ worked just fine on the bench for a week or so. The issue began immediately upon plugging it into the HM. It took 3 or 4 connect/disconnect cycles before it booted. I'm assuming this as there was no green disk activity light.

New Raspberry PI Pico Microcontroller - RP2040

It isn't a Pi replacement, doesn't even have wireless capability.

    Raspi 3A+ on a HM 4.0

Yes, that's a HM 4.0. I was trying to update my HM4.0 since it has the 4 line display and 4d printed case so I removed the original Pi and replaced it with a Raspi 3A+ but it's very unreliable and needs to be rebooted every couple days, then I might have to pull power and plug it back in...

    Stable firmware release v15

I had a little issue when I upgraded my old HM 4.0 with a new Pi and v15. Temp was reading like 16k degrees and the set temp was reading % and not degrees. I entered a numeric value into set temp and it switched to degrees and then rebooted after and the temps began reading normally.

    Old HM Case

I ordered a Raspi 3A+, hopefully I can stuff it in the existing case.

    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

Thanks Ralph, good to hear from you! Hope you're well. Yeah, I used another card and it went fine, I just didn't want to brick another one buy doing something wrong with the partitions. I just really wanted to understand what happened. I did try some things I googled but no luch. Thanks...

    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

Thanks for the reply. I tried deleting the 2 partitions I see in both windows and linux. It says successful but if you remove and reinsert the card, they are back. Somehow I've made the card read only. It is a micro SD so its not the full size card with the switch. Thanks again for all the...

    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

I put back in my linux system and used cfdisk. I deleted the partitions, did a write and it said there were no partitions. I exited and re-started cfdisk and they are still there. What could I have done during the initial image write to cause this?

    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

I tried zeroing it. 6963+0 records in 6963+0 records out 7301234688 bytes (7.3 GB, 6.8 GiB) copied, 198.307 s, 36.8 MB/s Put it back into my windows system to re-image and still have the 1223 filesystem.

Here is what I see from the HM Pi root@LEDE:/dev# parted -l Model: SD 00000 (sd/mmc) Disk /dev/mmcblk0: 16.0GB Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B Partition Table: msdos Disk Flags: Number Start End Size Type File system Flags 1 4194kB 24.1MB 19.9MB primary fat16...

    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

no, I haven't as I don't have a linux box here other than the Pi that I'm putting this into. Maybe I could put RaspOS on another card and use a USB adapter. I did try creating/deleting files in linux via SSH when booted from this card which failed. I also tried using the Raspi imager to write...

So it looks like this card is no permanently read only. I even tried the SD formatter and nada. No changes will stick with Windows or linux.
