Coffee Beans what's in your grinder ???

Was in Aldi to get a few things and spotted this Sumatra whole bean so I grabbed a bag. I think it was $6.59. Looks interesting. Trader Joe's likely has the same or similar in a different looking package. Correct picture this time 😄

Coffee Beans what's in your grinder ???

I imagine any cartel can produce articles rationalizing price increases. Why would coffee producers be any different?

Napoleon Prestige 500 vs Weber Genesis E-435

Seems parts for Napoleon are as readily available as Weber parts. I haven't taken a close look at the current line of Webers that dropped the Genesis II moniker but I know my 2020 or so Genesis II E-325 is as well built, arguably better built and designed than previous Webers I've owned dating...

    Bought a brisket for weekend

Only thing I can think is, I know Android has an app and system update feature. System updates are automatic. Apps can be batch updated. At least that's what my last several phones have been capable of. I'm sure it's similar with iPhones too.But you do have to initiate the process.

Thermopop vs El cheapo Amazon junk

I think the Thermopop sells for $36 but is often on sale for $25 and sometimes $18 like I paid. I've had 1-2 of the orange Thermopros...they're simply not on the same level as the Thermopop or the original Thermopen. A few more options perhaps...magnet, LED backlit...but they fail to perform as...

    Bought a brisket for weekend

You would think that ZGrills or any company that has you register for the product's warranty online would email updates and information to you assuming you completed the online registration...and probably checked off the boxes for promotions or new products,etc... But don't most apps notify you...

Thermopop vs El cheapo Amazon junk

I believe I've now owned about 10 of these various BBQ thermometers over the years. With the exception of my original Thermopen and my newer Thermopop, none have satisfactorily done what their respective marketing narratives claim..."instantly", or at least very quickly measured the temperature...

SmokeFire, auger & hopper burn back.

Did the app show any significant change in temperature?

    Store bought pizza crusts

Here's a plain pie I made with my homemade sauce and a Jus-Rol crust. The Broilmaster P3 with the pizza steel at our beach house is a bit more challenging than the Genesis II and the OnlyFire grate top pizza oven. I shoot for bar pie style.

SmokeFire, auger & hopper burn back.

Do you think perhaps some moisture compromised pellets? Is the auger and motor still in good shape?

    Store bought pizza crusts

I've tried those. They are ok too. But again, difficult and a space consuming task. These are the Jus-Rol type...ok but expensive and taste a bit weird.

    Store bought pizza crusts

While I applaud those that make their own dough for pizza, I've tried twice and I'm done with that. I'm even done with using the Trader Joes style dough in a bag. I've tried several store bought crusts and am learning some are far better than others. So far, I've found the following to be pretty...

Yeah... That's not not the root cause. That's a political excuse.

    Smoking on the Gasser

I get that. Sometimes I just want a quick, easy, additional smoke profile...chicken, salmon, heck, even pizza. I have had good results with the stainless boxes but I think the tubes are a newer development and really seem to have potential. The experiment will continue!

    Smoking on the Gasser

You reminded me to try chips in the tube I recently purchased mostly for my Genesis II. The pellets were a failure...but I likely used them incorrectly on top of the flavorizers. They incinerated rapidly. I'm giving chips a shot on the grates next time and I'm going to try the pellets again on...

Thermopop vs El cheapo Amazon junk

Learned a decent lesson today...finally. Was cooking split chicken breasts on the Broilmaster P3 on the deck at the beach house this evening. I first went out to check internal temperature with this El cheapo AlphaGrills thermometer I bought on Amazon 3 years ago. Initial reading was about 58-68...

For those of you who have external grease buckets

That's a serious pellet grill right there. Whate are the grates like?

Coffee Beans what's in your grinder ???

It has a use by date not a roasted on date but now, all of the Costco whole bean varieties do...even the Peet's, which used to have the roasted on date. Realistically, it doesn't matter to me. Seems the only ones now with roasted on date stamps are the pricey local or online roasters.

Coffee Beans what's in your grinder ???

Getting ready to crack this bag open here at the beach house. Have had this Mayorga Cubano roast before. It's dark and good. Local Costco almost always stocks it too. It was on sale last week so I grabbed another bag.
