I'm thinking about trying my 22 with a Stoker. I had the same issue, but it seemed to get better if I did not have a lot of wind, the top vent wide open and the bottom wide open. Once the coals all got good ashed over is when I climbed to 300+ and stayed there for a while.

Hello all, I have a Stoker system I used for another pit, but recently bought a WSM 22. If I use the Stoker with the adapter do I need to close the other two bottom vents? I'm thinking yes, but you never know.

If it's to breezy you may want to block the wind some. It can play tricks with the temp.

I had the same issue when I got mine. Try opening your bottom vents all the way and stir your charcoal around a little bit. You may need to get more of it going. The water will keep the temps down some, but you should be able to cruise at 250 What is the weather like, rainy, windy?

Thanks everyone, I did another run with a butt without water. I had about 10#'s of K blue in it with some wood chunks and was able to keep my temp at 300. The butt turned out great.

Gerd, I was up to 300 when I started the fire then a couple hours later it stayed right at 230-250. Needed my temp at 300. When I started the fire the temp outside was about 60 then got up to mid 80's during the day. Todd, I still had plenty of coals, started with a 20lb bag. I did have two...
