I own 3 TEC infrared grills (a Patio 2 , a Sterling and a Sterling 2 FR) and they are great for grilling steaks and chops.
They sell dirt cheap because nobody seems to know what they are - so they sit on FBM until it's ridiculously cheap.
My latest acquisition was the Sterling for $75.
I just picked up a Weber Performer with gas assist - needs a bit of cosmetic work as you can see in the photo and a new one touch ash cleaning system.
The person who gave it away included a BNIB replacement OEM Timer. Worth the 1 hr drive from home.
The nice fellow even helped me load it.
I have 2 Weber Gassers. a Summit Platinum D6 NG in perfect condition that I use Spring/Summer/Fall and a Genesis S320 that is my "Winter Beater" along with my TEC Sterling 2.
Every Spring in prep for putting the S320 away for the year, I clean the BBQ with grill cleaner and power wash all the...
I am going to bump my own thread - I managed to scoop a bargain yesterday
TEC Sterling II - in great shape (but filthy with years of grease inside) + a Weber Genesis E-310 in decent shape - even the ignitor works on all 3 burners but filthy with grease.
Both BBQ's are missing the side shelves +...
The demand is low (at least here in the Torontp area). I picked up a Q2400 with cart for $20 CAD - it was in good condition. It sat on FBM for weeks with the price dropping $20 every couple of weeks - when it hit $25 - I offered the guy $20 and scooped it up.
So I spent a couple of hours attempting to repair the severely damaged cookbox bottom and gave up - the tear was not worth repairing.
I had a partially restored D3CP (painted black metal cart with wooden shelves and a sticker based control console) - I turned 2 duds into one half decent grill (I...
I picked up a Propane Genesis 330 with a cabinet in the worst condition I have ever seen - the floor was completely rotted out, the corner square tubes were rusted out, there was a hole in the corner of the aluminum cook-box bottom, the porcelain steel plates that sit under the burners were just...
Exactly - I bought this stuff at Costco Business outlet in Toronto:

I does a wonderful job but you have to wear...
I am thinking of using a fender washer on the inside and outside of the cookbox to sandwich the damage between and support the shelf - I had a look at the local hardware store and they have 1.5 inch 3/8" bolt washers available that may do the job and they will be relatively hidden.
I picked up a P3 Ducks Unlimited NG this week for $0 - it needs work, the previous owner bent the left hand shelf bracket and partially ripped the bolt out of the bottom cook box - I haven't decided if I should patch the partial tear with a fender washer or use the grill as a donor for parts...
I called TEC just to confirm and the CSR advised that the cooking grates in this model are designed to sit directly on the glass panels (which makes sense based on the carbon stains that were already on the glass when I disassembled the BBQ).
I asked the age of the unit and their trick is the...
