Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

I did say they were stock, but I notice that there are a few different versions of "stock" in people's posts. For the record, I use 3, .005 and 5.

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Just a bit of unsolicited feedback on the microdamper for anyone who cares. I've owned it for about 3 months and I've done approximately 6 cooks with it. It is my first HeaterMeter and my only use of temperature control on my smoker, other than sitting next to my 18"WSM and drinking beer while...

That is a good looking graph. How'd you get the food probes to display the amount of time left to your target temp?

Is the HeaterMeter Right For Me?

I believe that Auber Instruments sells a pre-soldered Heater Meter. You could definitely do it yourself for less, but if you want a professionally soldered board, that would be an easy route to take. They also sell blowers that would easily attach to the WSM

I used these same settings last weekend on my WSM 18" with the micro damper and my cook looked a lot like yours. Doesn't get much better than that!

Thanks, I'll give those settings a try. I had my fan set at min/max 0% and 100%. I have no other frame of reference with this being the first cook, but I really like the micro damper. I have it attached with a stainless steel nipple directly threaded into a hole I drilled in the WSM.

First cook with the HM. Using a MicroDamper from Steve on a WSM 18". The pork butt looks good but still needs a couple of hours. Settings are 4, 0.05, 5, with fan on at 40%. Would love any suggestions on the PID tuning.

    No Pit Probe

Thank you all for your help on this. My fault for not ordering enough jacks. You're right that I should have ordered the kit from Bryan, but I had some of the components already from other builds, so I thought I would save a few bucks and take some of the clutter from my electronics surplus box...

    No Pit Probe

Thanks Steve. Luckily it is an easy problem for me to remedy with a minute of soldering. The hard part is waiting two weeks for the part and paying $4 in shipping for a$.99 jack.

    No Pit Probe

Thanks. I tried disabling it, but the LCD and Home Screen still both show no pit probe. Is that how it will be unless I solder up another jack?

    No Pit Probe

I just finished building a HeaterMeter with a Raspberry Pi. Everything seemed to go well on build and software installation. I can't figure out how to get rid of the -no pit probe- on my lcd and also in the software. I soldered 3 of the audio jacks on 1, 2 and 3 as it said in the...
