    My Dual WSM Cart Build

After I pull the pin and remove the lid, it's not all that bad. But I've already thought about making it even easier on me. My plan down the road is to mount a pair of 6" linear actuators that will lift the center chamber (with the lid) straight up. Along with that, I'll mount the charcoal base...

    My Dual WSM Cart Build

Right now, very carefully! Of the additions I need to make to the cart, one is a ring to go around the opening in the top of the table to protect it when I have to lift the cook body out.

    My Dual WSM Cart Build

It was not a good weekend for us. Somehow overnight we entered a parallel BBQ dimension where meats cook at 2X speed. All our meats, except ribs, were done way too early. We have a couple Cambro's/Carlisle's to hold our meats but when your brisket has to be pulled at 0710 for a 1330 turn-in, you...

    My Dual WSM Cart Build

This was our competition set-up this past weekend. Had a number of people stopping to ask how much we were selling the Smokey's for. They assumed we were sales reps. I wonder what gave them that idea?

    My Dual WSM Cart Build

Because I do competition cooks on occasion, that's how I justified the second Smokey. Otherwise, it's the occasional neighborhood cook.

Thanks! I have black and red DigiQ's to match. Damn gadget OCD.

    My Dual WSM Cart Build

Got rid of the plywood and did both levels in expanded metal. We welded in some added supports to the lower section the tack welded the expanded metal onto that and the base frame. Everything got painted in red and black.

    My Dual WSM Cart Build

This week I'm going to take out the Smokey's and pull out the plywood. What I decided to do, to minimize the weight, is to weld in support beams on the bottom that correspond to the location of the legs of the smokers. Then I'll install a sheet of expanded metal on the bottom as well as the top...

    My Dual WSM Cart Build

Because I wanted to make sure the fit was good, I decided to use plywood for the time being. And surprisingly, my engineering was spot on. And then made a mount for my DigiQ's. The leads are held in place by cable clips mounted under the top deck.

Ok, let's see if this works. The cart frame

    My Dual WSM Cart Build

Just started this weekend on making a cart to house my two 22.5's. I'd post pics but I've yet to get that privilege. The frame is done in welded steel, with the top being 1" angle to accept an drop-in top. The legs and base frame are all 1" square tubing. We made and welded in nut plates for...

    Lid Hinge Depth Question

I can't seem to find what the depth off of the back of the WSM the Unknown BBQ lid hinge sticks out when installed. Can someone provide me with that measurement, please? I'm in the process of designing a table/cart to mount my pair of 22.5's and also gathering all my modification accessories (a...

Insulated cover for a WSM 22-1/2"?

I like the idea but would like it more if the lid section was detachable. That way you could get into it without having to remove the entire cover when adding new meats.

    DX2...Round 3

A while ago I ordered up a DX2 from the fine folks at BBQ Guru. Got it and set the thing up and it worked like a champ the first couple times I used it. The third time I used it the unit locked up in the middle of an over-night cook. After trying many things to get it working nothing would get...
