Out of curiosity, have you considered the JSON output mechanism? Seems like a much easier method to parse all of the relevant data in one swell foop and you don't need to worry about corner cases like disconnects during the telnet session, but it does take a few seconds to get a poll.
Crossover and Wine are tightly intermixed. Crossover uses Wine as a base, but provides a commercial infrastructure. Essentially every Wine upgrade requires a quick prayer that complex applications still run, but Crossover smooths out the instabilities. In return, Codeweavers (makers of...
Anyone have any luck getting StokerLog running under Crossover Linux/Crossover Mac?
StokerLog is one of the few programs left that make me use an XP virtual machine under Linux - if someone figures out the trick to getting it to run under Crossover that would be great...
I would guess that other similar model probes would be more likely to give erroneous results than a WiFi network (should one actually have been in use). WiFi is a pretty well-defined protocol using specific frequencies, given how ubiquitous wireless networks are it's unlikely that any RF...
Some good information here on general security, but we're forgetting one thing - if the guy's close enough to hack the WiFi he's close enough to unplug the Stoker to let the fire die or, even worse, pull out the pit probe so the fan stays on and the fire goes out of control.
The worst...
I wonder if it would be possible to tweak it to work under Mono?
Some other .NET applications can be run by using the command "mono StokerLog.exe" but I haven't run the installer under Wine to get that far yet.
Obviously if you've got a license for Windows you can install a Virtual Machine...
I've been moving more towards Linux for a lot of work stuff, but I'm hoping that SilverLight will be ported there a bit more thoroughly (whether it's actually SilverLight or Novell's MoonLight project).
As for a native Stoker web interface, I'd much rather see Stoker move towards just a thin...
I've been finding quite a few slick looking applications for Adobe Air. The best thing about them is I can use them on my Windows 7 PC, my OSX Mac (not my favorite...), and my Ubuntu laptop and they all work pretty much identically. I know it's a longshot and pretty much a complete rewrite...
As far as I know this isn't in what's shipping from Rock, but it is in a freely available beta release. Here's the text if you can't get to http://www.kaytat.com/

Good suggestion! I've also heard good things about the Bolt Browser but...
My guess is that the heavy Javascript use doesn't mix well with the BB Browser, I've had some rendering issues with sites like that.
I've never bothered to set up direct Stoker access from the outside world - even though the chance is slim that someone would:
1. Find an obscured HTTP port...
Just as another datapoint, an unused probe in the cabinet where my Stoker lives read 8F last night and no issues with connectivity using a NetGear powerline adapter.
Rock does (did?) kind of have a 12V power supply - but it was 12V input and 5V output so you could run the Stoker off a car battery. I'm afraid you'd need to convert from the output voltage to 12V for your fan and given that you'd need to check the specs on current draw (including the voltage...
