My Spirit E-210 (2 burner) gets to around 500 degrees in 10 minutes. I generally turn it down at that point to settle around 450 or so, so I'm not sure how hot it would get if I let it go beyond that. It's increasing pretty slowly at that point, so I don't think it would get too much hotter.
Thanks for the tip on setting it on a mat. I store my E-210 on concrete at the moment. What sort of mat do you recommend? Something like one of those rubber exercise mats?
