Removal of ABS, PLA and PETG from PEI is easier with the bed at 50C rather than room temp.

If you need a sheet of PEI for your printer, CS Hyde are good to work with. They can cut custom sizes if they don't have what you need listed. I needed a sheet for a gMax printer and they were happy to help. If you have a heated bed and you are not running PEI, you should be! ;)...

We have completely different printers but, I had great success with eSun PETG by using my PLA profile and modifying it with ABS temps(245C / 100C). It just worked. PETG is a great plastic. When I build my new HM, the case and damper will be PETG. I think I will gradually move completely away...

It is honestly worth the effort to put a good PEI print surface on the heated glass bed. PLA and ABS stick and remove flawlessly with that surface. We are still waiting for some print pictures!

I have not made a HM case from PETG but a part I did make survived a few trips through the dishwasher will not warping. PLA is destroyed in the dishwasher. I think it would be a fantastic material to make cases out of.

I upgraded one of my Taz machines to Openbuilds v-slot. It is very quiet and smooth. It also eliminated all of the axis wiggle and associated ripples that were caused by the slop in the old linear bearings. Here is an example of before and after v-slot on that printer.

Ha! Yeah, it just depends on the pain level of installing the standard T nut.

If you pick up these T-nuts, you can install them anywhere along the rail without disassembly. They rotate after insertion in the slot. They are fantastic! http://www13.boschrexroth-us.com/Framing_Shop/Product/View_Product.aspx?category=10301&subcategory=1

For hose if you with 3D Printers

I do but I really don't see many requests. I have printed some thingiverse parts for people as well as a few custom designs. It hasn't been bad overall.

No, nothing lasts forever. Like you said, driving the nozzle down and across the bed due to a machine (or operator) malfunction would certainly do it. However, I have been running my small printer for nearly a year and the bed is unchanged from new condition. Based on that, I wouldn't consider...

I simply haven't had any problems removing parts from the PEI that came installed on my printers. It seems like you would have to be pretty abusive to scratch or gouge the surface enough to require a replacement but, I know, stuff happens... Here is Lulzbot's take on PEI sheet replacement...
